New Operation Darkness screenshots show everything but fictional creatures

Alright, I’ll admit it — we’re a little late getting these screens forOperation Darknessup. But rather than comment about our tardiness, why not question Atlus for not including any images with werewolves, zombies, or vampires? Operation Darkness‘ insane cast of characters is the biggest draw to the turn-based RPG, at least for me, anyway. You’d think they would want to highlight the most creative aspect of the game rather than the dull stuff you can find in practically any RPG these days....

Nintendo not in competition with its competitors

It should hardly come as a surprise, but Nintendodoes not viewSony and Microsoft as competition anymore, focusing instead on the consumer and not the kind of pissing contest that its “rivals” are currently engaged in. “People often ask such questions, and we say our competitor is neither [of] those companies, but consumers indifferent to games,” claims Nintendo Korea CEO Mineo Koda. “As there were many violent games, many parents had negative images of games....

Nintendo patents Mii Contest Channel, Soma Bringer, and more

It appears Nintendo’s legal hounds have been busy, recently registering six trademarks with the Japanese patent office. Among the trademarks are “Mii Audition,” “Mii Contest Channel,” “Nintendo Magic,” “Wii Handle,” “Wii Body Controller,” and “Soma Bringer.” The “Mii Contest Channel” is likely the already announced “Check Mii Out” channel, and one can only guess that “Wii Body Controller,” is related to (or is) the Wii Balance Board that ships withWii Fit....

Online retailers list Singularity for June 29 release

Online retailers Amazon and GameFly have both listed a release date forSingularity, the Gravity Gun-flavored FPS published by Activision. According to these sources, Raven Software’s latest title will be out on June 29. This is the first sniff of a solid release date we’ve had forSingularity. The game was originally slated for early 2010, then got pushed back to March, and was again pushed back to June. Activision said it didn’t want the game competing in already congested release periods, so one would assume that a Summer release will see the game gain some attention....

PAX 2007: Viva Pi?ata: Party Animals hands-on

I don’t know if it’s the combination of sleep deprivation and replacing my daily meals with cigarettes and posing like a metrosexual Spaniard, but I’ve finally snapped. After spending some time with the psuedo-followup toViva Piñata— the Xbox 360’s most criminally underrated title — I can’t stop giggling and drawing hearts all over my binders. Sure,VP:PAwill never replace Jordan Catalano in the back of my metaphorical gaming yearbook, but from what they had on display today, it’s actually an intensely fun title....
