Section 8is getting a sequel, and that’s amazing. A follow-up to last year’s multiplayer shooter that was actually pretty good in spite of being rough around the edges,Section 8: Prejudicelooks like more of the same, albeit with something that might actually threaten to be a story this time. Atomic Games head honcho Peter Tamte recently toldNewsweekthat the game has garnered some interest since being dropped by Konamias a result of phone calls and possibly more than one nasty electronic mail. (Whoops.) “We have a lot of people who are interested in the project,” Tamte said “But I’ll feel better when we sign something and the checks start coming.” It appears as though Atomic Games desperately needs those checks....

Microsoft took some criticism in the beginning of the Xbox 360’s life because of their choice to continue to support the standard DVD format for their game titles. They defended themselves saying that the DVD storage medium was more than enough space for upcoming games with their new compression techniques, but now it seems that the format’s limitations have causes a negative effect on one Xbox 360 title. Bizarre Creation says that the DVD format is too small to fit all of the features they wanted to include inProject Gotham Racing 4....

TheSonic the Hedgehog 4Web sitehas updated with some hot new assets for its first level, Splash Hill Zone. Eight new screenshots, as well as the first music track, have been revealed. Hooray! The new screens show off a few new items of note. His homing attack, a shield, and a checkpoint have all been unveiled, as well as a familiar feature to old school players — Sonic swinging from vines to reach higher places....

An anonymous employee of Sony UK sent us an e-mail that states that up to 160 jobs are planned to be cut from SCE UK, SCEE Central, SCE Cambridge, and SCE London. The move is being made to streamline the company due to the fact that “our industry is in the middle of a period of transition where some of the fundamentals of our business are changing.” The e-mail goes on to say that they’ll be going over with each employee whether they’re “at risk” for firing or not, and that they’ll go on to talk with the employee more if they’re at risk....
