Resident Evil 5 to contain online co-op? Yes, please!

Sometime next week, I’ll be headed out to Las Vegas for Capcom’s CAPTIVATE event, where I’ll have a chance to see their forthcoming 2008-2009 line-up. Among those games will beResident Evil 5, I’m sure — but until then, I’m scraping for all of the info I can get. And this is some good info, damn it. GamesRadarhas one of the first (as far as I know) English previews of the title, and even if it’s confusing as hell to read, it does contain a fair amount of new information....

Retail Natal design revealed at D8 conference?

At theWall Street Journal‘s D8 conference this week, Microsoft brought along an Xbox 360 and Project Natal for a demo. Engadget was there to snap some pictures, and reckons that what we may be seeing is the final retail version to be revealed at E3 later this month. The new white look is in stark contrast to the black unit revealed at E3 last year. It should be noted that Engadget says the unit on display was marked as a developer unit; this jives with muttering I’ve been hearing for months that the color of the unit had changed....

Rock Band footage: two epic drum battles

The first video shows Blue Öyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” being played on drums inRock Band, while the second clip, which can be found after the break, shows the song “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighters. This footage once again confirms that the sound produced by the drum peripheral is going to be annoying as hell to anyone that isn’t using the device. You’re neighbors probably aren’t going to appreciate your late night jam sessions if you’re planning on screaming into the microphone or banging on the drums every night....

Rumor: Treyarch’s next COD to be a Black Ops sequel

According to the latest chatter, Treyarch’s nextCall of Dutygame will be a direct follow-up to last year’sBlack Ops, potentially creating a new sub-franchise as Infinity Ward did with Modern Warfare. There’s no surprise that Treyarch is working on anotherCall of Dutybecause … what elsewouldit be doing? That we could be looking at aBlack Ops 2is the interesting point, but again, since the lastBlack Opswas Treyarch’s most creatively successful game, it’s hardly a shock to think that it’ll be doing another one....

Schilling’s RPG to be published by EA

Curt Schilling’s mysterious RPG will remain mysterious in the immediate future, but at least it has a codename and a publisher. Earlier this morning it was announced that the MMO, freshly codenamed as “Project Mercury,” is slated to be an EA Partners-published title. The game is still being developed by Big Huge Games, a subsidiary of Schilling’s 38 Studios. In the publishing announcement this morning it was mentioned that Big Huge is being led by Ken Rolston, the lead designer for Bethesda’sElder Scrolls IIIandIV, which seems like a nice tease of what we should expect from the still-secret fantasy RPG....

Scraps: All work and no play (13-05-2025)

I don’t really have a lot of time tonight. If it’s any indication of how busy I’ve been, I have only had the opportunity to play through a single level ofMega Man 9. Shameful, I know. I’d wish for more hours in the day, but I know I’d just fill them with more work. Everybody at Destructoid has been hard at work today. Nevertheless, they’re always kind enough to leave a little something for me at the end of the day....
