Gran Turismo 5took eight billion years to make, and it’s not finished yet. A new patch is coming that will add “mechanical damage options” to the game. Quite what that means is yet to be elaborated upon, but it will most likely let you toggle the amount of pain you can inflict on your vehicles. The patch has been pegged for December, so expect it some time in the very near future....

And in my book, that’s a great thing. At least it seems to be working for one guitar instructor named Bo Moore, interviewed in the Johnstown, PennTribune-Democrat. Moore says that he is enjoying a 35 percent increase in new students due to the guitar videogames....

With twenty-five Harvest Moon titles under their belt, one must assume thatNatsumeis doing something right when it comes to the cute farming sim — after all, someone must be buying them! PSP owners will be happy to hear that screens from a new Harvest Moon title,Sugar Village, were spotted on the pages of Famitsu today. All we know is that the game will be out on March 19th in Japan, but I would expect it to get a US release shortly afterward....

I have two stories to tell for this month’s musings theme. One is mine, and one belongs to two of my friends. One concerns the time I killed an large number of human beings in a dramatically satisfying way inFar Cry 2. The other is about the time a God’s monkey servant did something funny inBlack & White. The two stories could not be more different in tone and content, but they both taught me something I consider extremely important: there is a weird majesty, available only in the medium of videogames, in seeing a system of rules and mechanics play itself out in a way that is simultaneously unpredictable and wholly reasonable....
It’s a good sign for Nintendo and their supporting third parties if five of the top ten best selling games are Nintendo 3DS titles. That feat is even more impressive when you consider that these 3DS titles only got two of the seven days of the week to make that ranking. This was exactly the case in Japan for the launch week of the 3DS. Media Create’s sales numbers for March 21 through March 27 show that five 3DS games took top ten spots....
Many games have pointless collect-a-thons thrown in as some false way of extending replayability, often with little reward outside of an Achievement or Trophy, and sometimes not eventhat. WhileKillzone 2certainly has its own hidden items that don’t really do very much, developer Guerrillahas attemptedto make their collection just thatlittlebit more worthwhile. Helghast Intel is hidden throughout the single player campaign ofKillzone 2, and their collection will net you some extra-curricular rewards that give a little more flavor to the experience....
Outside ofDynasty Warriors 7, I’m not sure if there’s a game I’m quite so stoked for this year outside ofKillzone 3. The game hasofficially gone gold today, which means it’s absolutely ready for release on February 22. The game will come in two versions — a regular version and the Helghast Edition that I’ve spunked over multiple times already. The special edition features a Helghast helmet replica, a Scout action figure, art book and special DLC codes....
Huge fundamental update: Electronic Arts neglected to mention a tiny detail in regards to the October-boundLeft 4 Dead 2demo: it will be, initially, a pre-order“early-access”thing.
