Ubidays 08: Hands-on with Tom Clancy’s EndWar

Tom Clancy’s EndWar,probably Ubisoft’s biggest hyped up game of this year. And for good reason too. This is the stepping stone in a new direction Ubisoft is going towards. It’s an RTS game designed just for consoles and implements other Tom Clancy games such as havingGhost Reconsoliders andH.A.W.Xfighter jets. This is also the first current-gen game allowing players to just use their voice to control every aspect of the game....

UK Charts: C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER for World at War

Call of Duty: World at Warneeded just one more week at the top of the chart to claim a record for most number of weeks held leading to a Christmas number one. Unfortunately for Activision,FIFA 09has claimed the top spot, batting the cynical sequel down to number two. This marks the first time I’m happy to see something related to soccer win at anything. And yes, I meant to type “soccer....

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is looking damned good on the PSP

MakingValkyria Chroniclesportable could seem like a step down to some, but the PSP is always on my person, and I’d love to think that I could have something even fractionally as amazing asValkyria Chronicleswas in the system, to play on-the-go. I wasn’t going in expecting the game to look anything like the lush, watercolored PS3 title, but I think these new videos of VC2’s game play look pretty good. Two new videos from thelovely Japanese websitefor the game show the Scout and Assault Infantry on the move....

Wait, what? Only 23% of Demigod buyers tried multiplayer?

Seriously?I mean, that game has little more than a skirmish mode as its solo component! For chrissakes, it’s aDefense of the Ancientsclone! Games like thatdon’t roll well solo. But hey, people can do what they like with their money. As for how we came across that info,Stardock released its regular public report, hyping the success of its Impulse digital platform, but the big shocker to folks not interested in knowing about how Stardock are cool folks (shame, since they really are cool) were the usage statistics for Gas Powered Games’Demigod....

What’s this about a Pac-Man: Battle Royale?

Namco Bandai will never, ever stop making Pac-Man games. Ever. Until the end of forever. So it’s not surprising to find that the publisher recently filed for a European trademark forPac-Man: Battle Royale. As the game is unannounced, one can only speculate what this could be. A multiplayer game of some sort seems likely, but I have my own ideas (see above). Also registered fromDrill to you Drop, which could be a new Mr....

When you stare into the abyss …

I don’t really visit Internet forums very often, with the exception of two: theDestructoid forums(natch), and Something Awful. I dig on the SA forums because the feats of intolerable stupidity that usually go unpunished on most forums are, well, intoleratedon SA. Of course, every now and then us goons have to loosen our belts and let it all hang out; this essential need begat FYAD, a forum for acting in similar fashion to the hateful, stupid, grammar-oblivious denizens ofotherforums....

Dream Arcademight have the answer to yourStreet Fighter IVFightStick-less woes. The arcade cabinet company recently revealed its wireless joystick for the Xbox 360. It’s not available quite yet, but it should be appealing if (1) you’re not willing to pay 300 bucks for a MadCatz FightStick and (2) you’re tired of tripping over cords. Dream Arcade didn’t release any specifics about the joystick’s parts, but we’re guessing we’ll hear more in the coming days....

World at War screenshots are delightfully explosive

I’m not on the proverbial hype train forCall of Duty: World at War, and I may never be, but Treyarch’s fourth submission to the series remains on my radar regardless. These latest images — specifically the header shot with Berlin — make me feel like my decision to keep an eye on the news surroundingWorld at Waris justified. The game looks (dare I say it?) somewhat good. Look out forWorld at Warwhen it becomes available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC on November 11....

Zap! Pow! Champions Online screenshots to the rescue!

I think “three” is a weird number of game screenshots to release, but I’m not going to complain. Cryptic Studios’Champions Onlinesounds and looks, as the kids say, “totally sweet.” Like Cryptic’s PC-only massively multiplayer online role-playing gamesCity of HeroesandCity of Villians, the upcoming MMO for Xbox 360 and PC puts gamers in the role of their very own custom hero. Players will also design their own arch-nemesis, who will play a role in the game’s story....
