Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble. That’s the name. It has a nice ring to it. If you voted for that one whenAtlus was asking for your input, congrats. I voted for just plain “badass” because I wanted to see a game on the shelf that just saidBadasson it. My wish will still come true in some form. Says Atlus’ Aram Jabbari: “The title was voted in by a 3-to-1 margin, which means that fans strongly felt it was the best fit for the game, or, that they all giggled uncontrollably at the sight of the word ‘badass’....

This year’s Spike VGAs are shaping up to once again be the home to massive world premieres. Spike’s Geoff Keighleytweeted todaythatBatman: Arkham Citywill gets its world premiere, this in addition to the unknownBioWare title teased earlier today. Say what you will about the VGAs, but you know you’ll be paying attention to them, especially given the caliber of the premieres. Keighley is also promising a fresh new look for the show, which will be directed and produced by Hamish Hamilton, whose award show credits include the Oscars and MTV’s Video Music Awards....

Sharks? Sharks?! SHARKS! I’m obligated to report on anything shark related. There’s not that much news when it comes to sharks and videogames though, sadly. Thankfully for me, HandyGamesjust released a sharkgame for all of Apple’s portable devices. Shark or Dieis pretty simple. You just simply swim around and eat everything in your path. See, simple! Recently, I headed out to Los Angeles to get some hands-on time with Rockstar’s upcoming racer,Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Develop posted a short Q&A with BioWare’s Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk. In case you wondered, they were doctors at a hospital before they started to devote all their time on BioWare. For those of you who didn’t bitch and moan with disappointment after playing theBurnout Paradisedemo, here’s some great news. Criterion has revealedthat from January 4 to January 14, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 demos will support eight players in an online session. This doubles the number of online players currently supported in the demo (that’s four players, for those who don’t have a calculator handy). Additionally, 13 new “Freeburn” challenges will become available....

Creating a game that can sell more than 10 million units is no easy task to accomplish, but Infinity Ward has done just that with their award-winning 2007 first-person shooter,Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Even though the rest of the world already knew that Japanese gamers like their role-playing games,Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui now says the Xbox 360 needs more of them for the console to succeed in Japan. “The recent launch ofTales of Vesperiawas a true catalyst for console sales and in order to bring more gamers from a broader segment of consumers to the Xbox 360, we need to make the strengthening of our RPG line-up a priority,” Sensui told Edge....

Castlevania: Harmony of Despaircomes out in a scant two weeks! I can not think of the last time I was so excited to play a Castlevaniagame. If you have a Japanese PSN or Xbox Live account (and who doesn’t?) then you may be interested to learn that a demo for Atlus’ intriguing puzzle/horror/boob gameCatherineis due to launch on January 27. Unless you’re on Xbox Live Silver, in which case you can wait until February 3. The demo will encompass the game’s opening sections, including in-game movies, anime sections and action sequences. In other words, you won’t have the first clue as to what’s happening in it unless you know Moonspeak....

While visiting with Capcom at CES, we had the opportunity to see a number of things that, as a retro gamer, made me giddy as a schoolgirl at prom. Among these is the upcoming PSN/XBLA release ofFinal Fight: Double Impact. The two games which come in the release, the namesakeFinal FightandMagic Swordare among my favorite quarter-munchers. The latter has probably cost me upwards of a couple hundred dollars over the years....
