CES 2010: Nyko’s already awesome Wand gets an upgrade

Last year at CES, Nyko unveiled their Wand controller for the Wii and we werevery impressed. The changes to button layout were great as was the Trans-Port tech which allows other peripherals to remap buttons for the most appropriate use. New year, new Wand, I guess. In our meeting with Nyko, we were shown the Wand+. It has all of the features of the original Wand, but throws in its own version of MotionPlus (called FullMotion)....

Crazy Dragon Quest IX commercial is disturbingly truthful

I have absolutely no idea what is going onhere. Normally you can kind of derive some semblance of understanding out of a commercial or television program just by watching it, but I have no clue what deep sea fishing andDragon Quest IXhave to do with each other. That being said, and to completely contradict my first two sentences, I think I’ve got a clear picture of what’s going on here....

Debut screens for Lawn Games: Unlock sweet patio table sets!

CDV Software Entertainment held a little press event this past Wednesday in San Francisco where they showed off some of their upcoming releases. Of course, in classic CTZ fashion, I was late to the event. By a full day. Ron Workman was actually at the event and thanks to him, I did get to check out a few of their upcoming titles. Lawn Gamesis going to be the first console title to be published by CDV....

Destructoid interview: David Hayter

“Snake? Snake? SNNNNAAAAAKKKKKEEEEEE!” He’s heard it a million times by now, but I just had to say it again when meeting David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake in Konami’sMetal Gearseries. Aside from voice acting in numerous videogames and anime series, Hayter is also an accomplished actor and screenwriter. But, for this meeting, he’s good ol’ Old Snake, taking a smoke break to chat with Destructoid about whatever aged special ops agents like to talk about....

Destructoid review: CarneyVale Showtime

When I first started challenging Community Games developers to submit their work for review on Destructoid, I had hoped that some real gems would come out of the woodwork and prove their worth. I had not, however, expectedCarneyVale Showtime. At the risk of spoiling the whole review before you even read it, let me say that if you’re at all interested in the potential of XNA games, then you really, really, reallyneed to check this one out....

Destructoid review: MySims

Recently, EA’s farm was blessed with a birth. A hybrid animal — one partSims, one partAnimal Crossing, one partStrawberry Shortcake—MySimsemerged from the barn, took a deep breath of country air and embarked on its first unsteady steps. Does it trip over its own legs or gallop like the majestic centaur? Hit the jump to find out. Discountoid: Too Human, Mirror’s Edge, EndWar and more

Time for deals? Okay, in all seriousness, I found this image attached to a blog and spent twenty minutes scrolling through years of updates trying to discern what the context for it was. I was disappointed. Not in the boobs, mind you, but the content did not live up to the hopeful expectation. Speaking of which, we have another highly disappointing week when it comes to bargains. Best Buy has only one game on sale this week, and it’s a measly ten bucks off ofLeft 4 Dead, but they do have the Xbox Live bundle with chatpad and 12-month service at a really good price....

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project on XBLA sounding likely

We had previously heard rumblings ofDuke Nukem: Manhattan Projectgetting an Xbox LIVE Arcade release from a LinkedIn profile, which is how these things usually get started. And now, right on schedule, a game ratings board —this time Korea’s GRB— has given us some much-needed corroboration. It’s impossible to say when this re-release will go down, but all things considered, it does sound like it’ll happen eventually. Although, isn’t that what they said aboutDuke Nukem Forever?...

E3 08: Mirror’s Edge trailer oozes style

Nowthisis how you make a game trailer, folks. The transitions, the music, the stunts — it all just makes me want to see more of Dice’sMirror’s Edge, immediately. I’m not sure if I can pinpoint exactly what it is about the game that’s gotten me so hot and bothered. Perhaps it’s the killer art direction, which reminds me ofCrackdown, only more realistic and much cleaner, or the incredible lighting effects, or maybe even the fast-paced action itself....
