Poland isn’t exactly famous for its videogame output, but it may very well have just put itself on the map with this brilliantly original character. In lieu of an actual name for the creature, I have christened him myself. His new name is Sonic the Polish Pickle, and you can find him on a jar of Ogórki today! I have no idea whether or not the makers of Galileo Ogórki pickles have secured rights to use this mutant Sonic on their jars or not, but I do know that this is one of the greatest videogame-themed pickle labels I have ever seen....

At some point later in the week, Sony plans to update its online Trophy viewer, thereby giving people a reason to actually look at their Trophies through their browsers. The big changes all tie in to PSN data comparison. According to theofficial PlayStation blog, users will be able to compare Trophies against multiple friends and monitor each other’s achievement-level progress. You probably knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make this confirmation any less exciting. Valve went all out with an information dump today, saying more than just “Steam and Source are coming to Mac.” For starters, there’s this new feature called Steam Play. Essentially, it’s the thing that lets you purchase games for PC and play them on your Mac (or vice versa) at no additional cost. To make matters crazier, Steam Play — when the developer opts to include it — allows you to switch between Mac and PC versions of the same game without losing any progress; you can pick up exactly where you left off....

Assuming you actually have any cash left to burn after days of blatantly insane Steam sales, there are a few good deals to be had that aregood for today only. A new nest will let you gain a 30x multiplier, but the objectives are sure to take you an hour at the least. I’m one of those weirdos that never really liked realism in videogames. Well, outside of racing games, that is. Videogames are fantasy, and are supposed to be an escape. They’re not virtual reality.
