Realtime Worlds CEO David Jones revealed a few weeks ago that he was “miffed” over Microsoft’s decision to handCrackdown 2to Scottish upstart studio Ruffian Games. With the NPD figures crashing in and the dust settling from yet another month in the console wars, Sony has emerged with very strong numbers and what looks to be a successful run for the PS3 since its $299 price cut. The platform holder has, naturally,come out boasting, promising that this is only the beginning of an “onslaught” that will see Sony continue to “redefine” entertainment. “We are in the midst of one of the most exciting times for PlayStation as we continue to redefine entertainment experiences for consumers, both at home and on the go,” beamed Sony boss Jack Tretton....

At BlizzCon this week, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime andDiablo 3director Jay Wilson were considerably more receptive about bringingDiablo 3to consoles. Until now, Blizzard has been steady in its dismissive tone towards a console port. Activision Publishing has announced today that it has gobbled up Iowa-based developerBudcat Creations. Budcat has a reasonably long history with Activision, having worked on PlayStation 2 ports of a number of games in theGuitar Herofranchise, includingIII,Aerosmith, andWorld Tour. We can only hope Budcat hasn’t been doomed to a sweatshop-like life of working onGuitar Heroports; apparently the studio is currently working on — you guessed it — a new game in theGuitar Heroseries....

Telltale Games’ I-can’t-believe-they’re-making-itPoker Night at the Inventorywill be out very soon. Monday is when it releases for Mac and PC, which means the amount of time you have left to pre-order is quickly vanishing. Why pay up front?
