Capcom has filed a new trademark in the United States which suggests that the company may be making a further push into social networking. “Comuken” has been trademarked for a variety of applications including online multiplayer gaming, competitions and more. I’m not an expert on language (I speaks it real good) but it would be my guess that the Comuken name is somehow derived from the words “Community,” meaning a group of species that share a common environment, and “Hadoken,” which is a Swahili word for singed eyebrows....

When I saw how lovely Dodonpachi: Resurrection looked on the iPhone, I couldn’t help but want a bigger version. On a disc. For a controller. Dante’s Infernohas a comic book miniseries, and you may read the first part right here. Revolving around Dante’s girlfriend Beatrice, it sets the scene for the upcoming game from Visceral. There’s also plenty of blood and women in it, which makes it instantly better than any old poems I can think of. The comic comes courtesy of DC Comics and Wildstorm, and will be a six-part miniseries to get you all set up for Dante’s inappropriately violent adventures through the seven levels of Hell....

Arguably the biggest story of yesterday was Ninja Theory’s take on theDevil May Cryfranchise,DmC. The new Dante was a huge bone of contention, upsetting many fans and starting fires across the Internet. It would appear that the dissenters have themselves an ally, however, in the form of original franchise creator Hideki Kamiya. “I miss him, too,” said Kamiya when a fan told him that he missed the old Dante. “… I’ve been sad since Dante left me....

Very little of what BioWare has said about the upcomingDragon Age IIgives the impression of forward movement. In a Q&A session at BioWare’s Edmonton studios, producer Mark Darrah explained thatDragon Age IIisn’t “a brand-new game. It’s a better, more refined version ofDragon Age.” While Darrah is right to point out thatDA IImaintains the Gygaxian foundation ofOriginsand tightens it, I hope “more of the same” doesn’t become the only message that fans take from the sequel....

If there’s one thing I could always want more of on the DS, it’s a good RPG, and Square Enix looks like it’s going to have me sorted out for a good while yet. This Japanese trailer forDragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bridelooks pretty damn lovely, and should provide everything that the hardcore JRPG geek could need.Square Enix is very good at squeezing the very best out of handheld systems, with the gorgeous-lookingDissidiaon the PSP and theFFremakes on the DS....
