Why Diablo III’s Auction House could welcome disaster

Let me start off by saying that there are still a number of unknown factors when it comes toDiablo III. The items involved, the drop rates, and plenty of other elements make it difficult to pass judgment on whata real-currency Auction Houseis going to do to gameplay. But I need an outlet to express how I feel this system is going to change — or possibly even ruin — the game from the get go, and what more perfect an outlet than here right?...

Wii is damaged by ‘sub-standard software’

Lightning Fish Games CEO Simon Prytherch has been having a good old moan about the Wii’s performance this year. However, rather than blame the innocent, virgin-white waggle box, he has aimed guns at the creators of sloppy shovelware, claiming that sub-par videogames have been the root of the issue. “I don’t think you can ever write Nintendo off, but the Wii market — from a third party software developer and publisher perspective — is over-saturated with product,”he explains....

Wiiitis backed by MRI, but we still think it’s avoidable

Back in June of last year, word about Wiimote aficionadosinjuring themselvesduring the course of overly intense bouts of play caught our attention. The affliction was featured on WebMD, and even given one of those official sounding medical names: Wiiitis — which when roughly translated — should’ve meant something down the lines of inflammation of the Wii, and not parts of human anatomy. Not having heard much about it since that time, we figured that not only was it being blown completely out of proportion, but it was just something limited to that part of the general population that tends to get a bit too excited over things, while throwing caution by the wayside....

3DS’ November update adds 3D video recording

Come November, the 3DS will get one more piece of the puzzle that will be the system we were promised prior to launch: 3D video recording. You’ll be able to capture 3D video of damn near anything you want and share it sans 3D glasses. That’s assuming you can get them within the 3D viewing cone, however. Optimal? No, but pretty neat. Also new to November will be a set of “new experiences” for those busy bees among you who have completed the StreetPass challenges in the Mii Plaza....

A disco dungeon crawl: hands-on with Frobot

One thing I really like about the WiiWare service is that for every poorly made title released, there are some really neat products coming not long after.Cave Story, theBit.Tripseries,Super Meat Boy, andMega Man 10exemplify that the little-indie-service-that-could can bring games to compete with the likes of Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. One such interesting title is a small indie game calledFrobot. The title might not draw you in, but the premise would....
