Destructoid review: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

If you’ve already judgedMortal Kombat vs. DC Universebased solely on the fact that it’s aMortal Kombattitle — or that it isn’t technically as rich or deep as other fighters — the game (and this review) is not for you. There’s no way you could compare the game on any technical or competitive level to any number ofCapcom vs.[Marvel/Care Bears/Whatever] or SNK fighters; if you do, you’re missing the point.MK vs. DCUcertainly seems to be meant for a more casual fighting audience, with a focus on two important points – ease of play and ridiculous, frivolous fun....

Diary of a PSPgo upgrader

I’ve been speaking ill of the PSPgo (or more specifically, Sony’shandlingof the PSPgo) for a few weeks now, but let it not be said that I won’t put my money where my mouth is. Quite a lot of money, in fact, as I visited GameStop yesterday and acquired the latest PlayStation Portable. As I’ve said many times, I am a PSP fan and I wanted to love the new system, and I decided the only way to judge this machine was tohavethis machine....

Discountoid: Cheap handhelds and Buy 2 Get 1 games!

Sometimes I like to fantasize about being John F. Kennedy. Except that I’d be smarter than to sic my brother on the Mafia after they helped ensure my presidential victory. And I wouldn’t have abandoned those Cuban refugees. I’d still totally be tapping Marilyn, though. Some things just shouldn’t change. Some strong deals this week. GameStop is doing their annual “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” sale on used titles, so it might be a good time to swing by your local store and see what’s on the table....

DJ Hero 2 basically confirmed

Oh what a surprise! Activision has broken the habit of a lifetime by announcing a sequel to one of it’s music games. The evil publisher hasneverreleased a sequel or spin-off in its life, so we’re all very surprised here. Unfunny sarcasm aside,DJ Hero 2is now a thing that is official. Yeeeeah boy! The “shark jump” of music games is being given a second chance to do what the first game did not and capture the market’s attention....

E3 10: Augmented reality in 3D on the 3DS

Describing the 3DS can be frustrating. After having a snake from theMetal Gear Soliddemo jump out at me, or the yorkie puppy fromNintendogs + Catslick from outside of the screen, the 3DS sells itself, but it’s impossible to describe without actually holding it. However, for me, the most exciting tech demo Nintendo showed off was a tech demo using the two cameras on the back on the device. While perfect for 3D pictures, in this tech demo, by holding the camera 14-inches away from blank table with a small question mark block in the center, the table will open up like a box, with a hole in the center....
