I have to say YTMND Thursday isn’t so hot this week, especially compared to last week. Nintendo of Europe talked about their 3DS launch line-up and preloaded software some more, and here’s what they had to share. PilotWings Resortwill feature a hang-glider, a plane and a rocket pack. The newNintendogsandNintencatswill have more difference between species thanNintendogshad before. Expect differences in body size, body shape and leg length, as well as 3D fur. Also, the front camera allows pets to recognize your face and remember you. If they have never seen you before, they will get scared and bark....

Trademarks and retailers have already spoiled the surprise, but Activision has officially announcedGuitar Hero: Warriors of Rocktoday. The game will feature an all new “Quest Mode” where players will head on a rock journey to help the Demi-God of Rock take down “The Beast” and save rock. Players will play to enlist the help of and join forces withGuitar Herocharacters, transforming them into “rock warriors.” Gene Simmons of KISS fame will narrate the experience....

Earlier today, I posted mybeta impressions ofGears of War 3. While I did my best to give you all the important news, I withheld one bit of vital information, deciding it was so important it deserved a full news post. Adventure Timehas ruinedGears of War 3. We all know that John DiMaggio, the voice of Marcus Fenix, also plays Bender inFuturama. For some reason, I never found that a problem. DiMaggio is especially talented in that he can make similarly gruff, grizzly voices sound different from each other....

Dark Cloudwas an interesting action/RPG and one that I purchased not long after acquiring a PlayStation 2. It suffered from some design choices, such as permanent weapon breakage, which made it utterly intolerable to play at times and I lost interest in it fairly quickly. The concepts behind that game were so compelling, however, that I was willing to give its sequel a try. Time travel is an essential element in the game, not only on the part of the characters but on myself as well....

I’m sure we’ve allthoughtabout killing a GameStop worker, but none of us are stupid enough to go into a store and actuallypromiseit. One man in Michigan did, after failing to return his Xbox 360 without a receipt, and promptlygot himself arrestedfor it. The 43-year-old man was enraged over the store’s refusal to accept his console without a receipt and said he would kill somebody. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood‘s beta last fall sold me on the idea of multiplayer in the series. It was short-lived as I sank back into old multiplayer standbys, but it was great as a proof of concept. The common theme withAssassin’s Creedgames is that each entry is bigger and more bombastic;Revelationslooks to continue that trendwith nine new assassins, three maps, four game modes, and (hopefully) plenty of bomb-action. Hot on the heels of the recentFirefly MMO announcement, it appears there’s aBattlestar Galactica Onlinein the works. While little information has been revealed (other than a listing byEB Games/Gamestopand a subsequent confirmation by Vivendi Games to Frenchgamingsites), it seems the game will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. By tacking the word “online” to something, one can only assume we’re speaking about an MMO. But I guess it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we might see a Battlestar Galacticakart racer....

Bethesda Softworks has announced that it has expanded its “global operations” this afternoon. The studio responsible forOblivion,Fallout 3, and is rumored to be working on anElder ScrollsMMO, has opened offices in two European cities: Frankfurt, Germany and Paris, France. Frank Matzke and Julie Chalmette will be the managing directors of those respective offices. What will these offices be doing? According to the PR, they’ll “directly oversee sales and marketing” in the two territories....

Official announcements are odd things. After all, we’ve known aboutMass Effect 2for some time and seen everything fromtrailerstothe ability to transfer save files from the first game, but here were are with an official announcement from Bioware thatMass Effect 2is on the way. Well, have to make things fancy and formal, I suppose. At any rate, we can expect the sci-fi adventure to come our way sometime in 2010. It’ll be available for PC and Xbox 360 (sorry PS3 owners!...
