E3 10: Holmes vs. Bionic Commando Rearmed

Yeah, so I choked pretty bad in this video. The NESBionic Commandodifficulty seems to be back for this sequel; one life, and I was dead after (I think) one hit, though it might have been two. I did get some more time with the game after this, and the more I played it, the more the jump button grew on me. It feels a bit like cheating when you use it to just jump over a small pit, but when you have to jump,thenbionic-grapple an overhead object with precision timing to swing over ahugeravine; it’s awesome....

John Carpenter, the legendary director of films such asThe ThingandAssault on Precinct 13, is a fan of videogames. What is he not a fan of? The film and game industries pushing 3D on consumers. E3 11: If you missed last night’s episode of GTTV …

… you can watch it right here! In this episode, I represent Destructoid and talk to Geoff Keighley about this year’s upcoming E3! Antics ensue! I always get extremely uncomfortable talking about appearances like this, so let’s quickly change the subject. Let’s talk about your favorite cereal! I think I have a three-way tie between Cookie Crisp, Crunch Berries (roof of my mouth be damned!), and Fruity Pebbles. But, lately, Lucky Charms has been making a surprising comeback....

EA: PC is becoming the largest gaming platform in the world

It makes sense that there would be far more PCs out there than there are game consoles and portables. But not all of these computers are used for gaming…yet. Electronic Arts’ CFO Eric Brown says things are looking up for PCs and gaming, going as far as to say that “the PC is becoming the largest gaming platform in the world.” “In terms of distribution, the way we look at a lot what’s happening in the future is, we’ve got probably a billion PCs out there in the world,” said Brown....

Fable 2 players hate on co-op, developer offers them handbags

You have to love game company community forums. When their users get pissed, yousoonknow about it. I’ve not playedFable 2yet (it’s not out in the UK until Friday) but over onthe Lionhead forums, people are currently bouncing their angry ballbags over the co-op in Peter Molyneux’s latest opus, claiming it to be buggy and maligned by a poor camera, as well as forcing players to become mere “henchmen” instead of their own heroes....

Final Fantasy Retrospective: a look back at the spooniest of bards

As you’ve probably gathered over the six months since Nick’s last piece, today is aridiculouslyslow day in the realm of gaming news. I’ve spent the entire day playingVirtua Fighter 5 OnlineandGuitar Hero III, and even without looking at my laptop since 9AM the only news I missed was that Brian Crecente has changed to a new conditioner. I mean,I careabout what sort of jojoba extracts the man infuses with, but the rest of you probably couldn’t give two shakes of your own, comparably disgusting hair what makes his mane so glossy....
