What’s missing from King of Fighters XII

[Editor’s note: BulletMagnet has a lot to say aboutKing of Fighters XII.— CTZ] By now I think it’s safe to say that the “dump onKoF” phase around these parts (if there ever really was one) has largely fizzled out, and the other shoe has inevitably dropped – while the ongoing talk surrounding the game has largely steered clear of outright flaming, thankfully, the fact remains that, at this point, if one criticizesKing of Fighters XII, more than a few others will quickly step up to defend it....

With PS3, the fun’s always free: Is Sony mocking Xbox Live with new ad?

Sony hasreleased a new advertthat possibly makes a joke at Xbox Live’s expense (expense, get it?). The new ad declares that “the fun’s always free,” referencing the PlayStation Network and the fact that it costs nothing to game online through Sony’s service, while on Xbox Live you have to pay for the privilege. The fact that Sony doesn’t yet expect anybody to pay for its online provision is certainly a huge bonus, but by the same token, what Xbox Live offers for the money is pretty damn good, and the cost has certainly not stopped millions of customers using Microsoft’s gold service....

Word is, From Dust SUCKS on PC (and has sh*t DRM)

Dust in your PC is a classic problem, and one that Ubisoft has apparently parodies with the computer port ofFrom Dust. Forums, social networks and sites likeRock, Paper, Shotgunhave been reporting all sorts of crap, making this one PC port to avoid....

Yakuza 3’s karaoke minigame isn’t what you’re thinking

Yakuza 3: it hasits own PS3,fishing, golfing, billiardsside games, and it even hasits own line of ramen. And now karaoke? Well, it’s not what you’re probably thinking. It looks like a clap-along, while another character sings. And that’s okay, because I’m guessing that you won’t be that familiar with the music of the Japanese underworld anyway. Of course, this could be cheesy J-pop too, but I can’t imagine that fitting. You never know with theseYakuzagames....

*Sigh* … Yet another Square Enix countdown teaser

Dear games industry, Please stop putting upcountdown teaser sitesfor upcoming games. Either just announce the bloody things or shut up forever. Putting out teasers is basically an admittance of arrogance on your part, and the endless speculation you get is mawkish and annoying. It’s not like Square Enix has even put out much ofanythingrecently that deserves” a teaser, and they can use all the pretty music and “mysterious” number fours that they like, the whole thing will still come off as stupid and pretentious, like all teaser sites invariably do....
