The irony of this is that today is Labor Day, and kids have the day off from school. This week’s Virtual Console releases are surprisingly solid for a batch that contains zero first party Nintendo classics. By “surprisingly solid” I mean, of course, two of the three titles not only contain the word “ninja,” but also feature these clandestine assassins as their main characters. While you were sleeping Tri-Ace put a present under your pillow. There’s a new 3DS and PSP title coming from the company, and both will be published by Konami. First up is the company’s first PSP title,Frontier Gate. And it’s perfect for the PSP, as it’s like Capcom’sMonster Hunter, but with turn-based battles. It’s multiplayer, as you’d expect, allowing three people to play together. Famitsu says that you’re able to have up to six characters....
According to a recent Ubisoft press release, they plan on launching a DS-based line of games targeting 14-16 year old girls called Imagine — and I find myself somewhat amused by the content. Falling much into the stereotypical view of the adolescent female, the games expected to hit shelves in October will include such hits as:Fashion Designer, Animal Doctor, Babyz, and Master Chef.Figure Skateris slated to be released in early 2008....
How much money isRock Bandworth? More Nazi gold than has ever been smelted, if Viacom’s absurd$300 million bonusto the development studio is anything to go by. Viacom is to award Harmonix founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy more than that princely sum as part of the studio’s 2006 acquisition. For exceeding performance targets in that last quarter, Viacom awarded the Harmonix boys roughly $150 million. The second half of this meaty bonus is due to be received in 2009....
Mark your calenders, folks!Vigilante 8: Arcadeis coming to Xbox Live Arcade this Spring from the guys who brought you the originalV8. It’s a “re-imagining” of the car-wrecking series that features brand new content, including online multiplayer for up to 8 players. Even though I haven’t playedVigilante 8before, I’m really looking forward to this one, if only because there aren’t a whole lot of other fantastic Live Arcade games on the horizon, and I enjoy watching things explode....
