God of War teaser site updated with another tease

God of War IIIgame directorStig Asmussen told methat he had no idea what was next for the series, and that he wasn’t currently working on any downloadable content. But if thisGod of Warteaser site is any indication of things to come, I may have to call him out soon. The Web site,Spartans Stand Tall, has been updated to show a “mysterious man” standing in the rain. You can see the side of his head, and it surely does look a bit like Kratos....

Gross! Kinect tech in mobile phones and robots?

Gross? That’s exactly what I said when I saw the Reuters headline “How Kinect could turn smartphones into robots” earlier today. Reuters is doing troll stories now? No. This writer is serious. According to EETimes, Microsoft’s purchase of gesture-recognition company Canesta could someday lead to a smaller Kinect-type product that fits into our phones. Canesta’s engine is said to outperform the PrimeSensor which Microsoft is currently licensing from PrimeSense for Kinect....

Hamza Bullets! Death Tank super tank ‘shoop and haiku of death contest winners!

Oh, Hamza Bullets, what can’t they do? I know that they can help to pick out the winners of theDeath Tank super ‘shoop and haiku of deathcontest thatrecently ended. Sadly, the Hamza Bullets didn’t win. Not because they aren’t awesome (which they are), but because there were entries that had just a little bit more of what I was looking for, and even some things I hadn’t even thought of....

Here are some new Army of Two: The 40th Day screenshots

Army of Two: the 40th Dayisn’t exactly theArmy of Twoyou remember. The fist-bumping, butt-slapping behavior of the two protagonists — Salem and Rios — has been greatly reduced to match the game’s new, more serious tone. If you were down with the original title, don’t stress over the deconstruction too much; Weapons will still glitter and Aggro appears to be just as important. Earlier today, Electronic Arts Montreal dropped four new screenshots of the game....

How should we market Rhythm Heaven in the US? Oh yeah, Beyonce!

I understand the practice of using celebs to advertise gaming — after all, it worked well for Nintendo when they featuredYuri Ebiharain a DS commercial. Still, there’s something ultimately laughable to me about the fact that Beyonce is working on an ad forRhythm Heavenfor the DS. It’s official — all indie cred surrounding Rhythm Tengoku as a series is utterly destroyed. Beyonce chats in an interview with EW.com about what games she likes (Guitar HeroandTetrisgets mentions)....

If Wii 2 comes out in 2-3 years, will you buy it?

[Publisher’s note: Just for fun we’re bumping the original story about Project Cafe that we ran on June 02, 2025. The date always seemed fishy to us, but just about everything else still sounds on point! The controller seems to be the biggest change — we’re now anticipating a large screen on it. Oh Dreamcast, don’t say nasty things to the baby. -Niero] This is just a theory, but it has been floated about in various corners of the gaming world, and it is one that is based very much in reality....

Interview: Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades on Enslaved

Before calling Ninja Theory’s offices in Cambridge, England to speak with studio co-founder and self-proclaimed Chief Creative Ninja Tameem Antoniades, I did my research. It’s something I almost always do before an interview, given the time, and this was no different. Having just finished its upcoming Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gameEnslavedjust a few days prior, I go back to play its PS3-exclusive,Heavenly Sword. I read articles on and interviews with studio heads dating back to when it was calledJust Add Monsters, and had released a game calledKung Fu Chaosfor the original Xbox....

It still won’t be a Burnout game, but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is trying

Critics of previousGran Turismogames have zeroed-in on the title’s lack of damage modeling as the glaring misstep of Polyphony Digital’s otherwise impeccable racing sim. With the subsequent release ofGran Turismo 5 Prologue(those of us in the States will have to wait until April 15th), there’s been chatter that the online portion is in much need of some tweaking, but that the core gameplay is very much intact. The guys over atCVGbroke the news today through an interview withGran Turismocreator Kazunori Yamauchithat a major update is slated for later this year, which will remedy those problems, as well as silence the critics mentioned above....

It’s about time! Okami for the Wii confirmed

Let me get this out of the way first … woo hoo! Eurogameris reporting that Capcom has (finally!) announced it is bringing its critically adored PlayStation 2 gameOkamito the Nintendo Wii in spring 2008. While the news is very exciting (did you see my “woo hoo?”), it kind of felt inevitable, asOkamiscreams Wiimote controls from beginning to end. In an obvious statement, Capcom confirmed that the new controls would be used primarily for the Celestial Brush — the game’s deep painting mechanic — as well as some additional motion-based combat sequences....

Kill Iraqis, play Halo 3; yeah, we’re late, so what?

Excuse us for this untimely post, but we were a little busy doing lines of coke off of our Asian “massage” ladies’ backs at Dtoid HQ over the break. You know, there’s nothing like a good back rub and some fine Columbian china to set things straight. Anyway, did you know that Bungie loves our troops in Iraq? Yes, yes they do. In fact, they love them so much, they let those boys play someHalo 3....

None of you playedBoktai. So, I’m like “Hideo, what’s this?”, to which he mumbled something … probably in Japanese. Anyway, I unroll it (he never folds things, he always rolls stuff up like some kind of A1 scroll or something), and it’s the sales numbers for the first threeBoktaigames....
