After ten years, Capcom’s CPS3 arcade system board has finally been decrypted. CPS3, the board that powers some of Capcom’s best arcade hardware (Street Fighter III/2I/3S,Red Earth) has been one of the most legendary cast-iron bitches of the emulation underground; meanwhile, other emulation milestones like custom PSP firmware appear within a year or two after availability to the hack-happy public. With the decryption process complete, intrepid MAME-folk can get to the real task at hand: building an emulator to run newly-ripped CPS3 games....

Criterion teases the Burnout Paradise Cops and Robbers Pack

Disclaimer: the screenshot above is not from Criterion Games’ latest trailer for theBurnout ParadiseCops and Robbers Pack. Why? The better question is, why not? In all seriousness, the image has more pizazz, but the video (after the break) has less blur; it’s an equal trade-off, I think. Probably the coolest thing about this DLC that you might not know is that every car, excluding the Burning Route and Carbon cars, will have a police skin....

D3 announces Puzzle Quest focus testing in Los Angeles

Puzzle Questbar mitzvah, you say?Dugog-themed barbeque? Challenge of the Warlords baby shower? I’d attend them all. I’m rabid for the originalPuzzle Questin a way I am for few games, especially games that could be described as “casual” — I’m more of the 80 hour quest type (although PQ kind of has one, if you stretch it out long enough.) At any rate, any news with the wordsPuzzle Questsends me screaming to Chad’s door to beat on it (potentially scaring away the dolphins) and share the news, and this is no exception....

Destineer has some Christmas minigames gift for you

Man, let me tell you what I did NOT want for Christmas is a collection of holiday themed minigames, but you know, you say “minigames” and there’s someone just waiting to make a Wii game for you. I guess I should be more optimistic — if I had a kid, we could play Destineer’s newWe Wish You A Merry Christmaswith them and they could meet Santa Claus in the game, therefore taking away all his mystique and proving to them he is definitely not a real person....

E3 08: Fallout 3 demo footage: Glorious headshot edition

Oh. My. God. Fallout 3may be playable as a full-on, real time, first-person shooter, but I’m starting to think that utilizing V.A.T.S. (Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System) will make for a far more enjoyable — and more importantly, bloody — experience. In the post-jump footage Bethesda’s Todd Howard shows some of the amazing kills you can get using V.A.T.S., and while the sniper rifle headshots are nothing short of beautiful, I find myself most impressed by the sequence that shows him killing someone with stuffed animals fired out of a leaf blower-turned-rocket launcher....
