Bayonetta gets new trailer and Japanese Web site

A brand new trailer, the first in a long time, has appeared for Platinum Games’ ridiculous hardcore action titleBayonetta. We finally get a little taste of the game’s story, as well as some gameplay footage that shows off some boss combat. Also, Bayonetta herself is now a bawdy seventies English school mistress, apparently. Anofficial Japanese sitehas also launched, so if you’re into Moonspeak, you can glean some information on characters and plot....

Bayonetta’s rival looks like Cruella de Vil

Platinum Games has been blogging up a storm to promote its upcoming (and highly sexy) action gameBayonetta. In one blog, the team talks about theenvironments, and in another, we get to learn about Bayonetta’s arch rival, the Cruella de Vil-esqueJeanne. “I wanted to make Jeanne feel like something out of the 1960s, so she wears rather thick makeup. Her blood red lips and lower eyelashes are the key points to this design,” explains Mari Shimazaki....

Billy’s Boot Camp: Wii de Enjoy Diet! will work your ass

Billy Blanks is getting a fitness game in Japan. Believe it or not, this makes sense. Just like my old friend and fellow gigantic African American manBob Sapp, Billy Blanks is hugely popular in Japan. For a country with a reputation for hating foreigners (especially brown ones), the country sure is accepting to Billy and Bob. Everyone I met there was really nice to me as well, despite my bad Japanese and beige complexion....

Bit Transmission episode 6 with Capcom’s Seth Killian

Honestly, we should just call this episode, “The Jonathan Holmes Show” because that’s really what it is. Listening to Holmes’ passion for all things Capcom pretty much struck me dumb as he consistently managed to ask every question I could think of before I’d even really thought about it. It’s a good interview and will no doubt sate much of the lust for everyone’s favorite Wii fan that we’ve been hearing about....

Bit Transmission recording episode 8 this weekend

It’s that time again. On this episode of the show, we’re going to discuss videogames. Specifically, we’ll spend some time talking aboutFragile Dreams, a littleAlan Wakeand a few other spooky-type games we’ve been playing. There will also no doubt be some discussion on poorly naming games because Jonathan seems hyped up about that for some reason. Anything you think we should be addressing? Put it in the comments below and we may just talk about it....

Capcom gets their fancy PSN ‘storefront’ this Thursday

It’s not reallya huge surprise, but the Capcom-branded PlayStation Store “storefront” this Thursday. There’s not much news to reported, other than that it’s like the rest of the PlayStation Store except it’s skinned with Capcom marketing. Each of Capcom’s games will have its own little department, which will contain all of the content related to said game. Like I said, “fancy.” So Sony is giving Capcom a gift for being such a huge supporter of the PlayStation Network....

Capcom teaser reveals Sengoku Basara 3

I won’t lie — when I first sawCapcom’s teaser sitefor this game, there was a part of me that was hopeful for a new Onimusha game (even though I didn’t like the last one at all). Turns out it has nothing to do with Onimusha — rather, the game isSengoku Basara 3, orDevil Kingsas we know it here in the states. Two mysterious silhouettes were also revealed, which you can see in the gallery and pontificate over....

Maker of fine (if not sometimes totally crazy) peripherals Nyko Technologies will be debuting some new hardware at CES this week. Among the goods are a bunch of brightly-colored guns for pew-pewing, and a cooling fan that makes your Xbox 360 look like an alien spacecraft. Power Shot for Move Because the Move controller doesn’t look like a gun and you like your peripherals to be huge, Nyko is introducing the Power Shot....

Champions Online pre-launch deals limited, frustrates fans

One of the coolest — and most expensive — pre-launch MMO deals we’ve seen in a while is the‘Lifetime’ membership offerforChampions Online. As the name implies, the offer allows people to play the game without fees until the MMO croaks. Like members of theChampionscommunity, we believed the deal was good until September 1st. That’s notentirelytrue and it’s causing a fuss. According tothis official post, the amount of Lifetime membership subscriptions, as well as pre-launch six-month subscriptions is limited and may sell out before the September date....

Chinese pirates help Unity expand

I can’t imagine ever seeing a general consensus when it comes to software piracy. Consumers, developers, publishers and the media all approach the situation from different angles and have different motivations and investments in the software. Unity Technologies, developers of the Unity game engine and editor, have added some moregray to the piracy canvass. John Goodale believes that China’s culture of piracy allowed his company to make waves in the East....
