Demon’s Soulsis a lonely game. Even though its multiplayer features are geared towards letting players know that theirsuffering is shared, aDemon’s Soulsplayer is alone in Boletaria. From Software and Sony have chosen to remind players of this fact,releasing aDemon’s Soulsdynamic theme onto the Japanese PSN store. Since sensible PS3 owners have likely forgotten all about them, dynamic themes are basically animated 3D themes for the XMB. Most include custom sound sets, XMB icons, and alternating, active wallpapers....

Atlus is a name that strikes delight in the heart of many a gamer, and I count myself as one of that collective. Aside from the brilliantPersona 3,Atlus has been responsible for many well-respected titles such as theTrauma Centerseries,Etrian Odysseyand theShin Megami Tenseigames. Of course, not every game is a gem, but it’s safe to say that when Atlus announce a title, a lot of people are awaiting the release with excitement....

The lastPSP firmware updateadded the option to download the Digital Comics reader app. One minor problem, though. There weren’t any digital comics to download at the second it was offered. I know this too well — I looked for a comic and ended up downloading some garbage visual comic for two bucks. Turns out that’s atotally differentthing. The lack of comics has been remedied now. Earlier last afternoon the official PS blog blasted a single redeemable code, giving PSP users the ability to download their first digital comic,Star Trek: Year Four — The Enterprise Experiment....

Okay, not a ton of deals this week but there are some significant ones. Best Buy hasHouse of the Dead: Overkillmarked down by twenty dollars. GameStop is blowing out their inventory onGuitar Hero World Tourbundles (but the deal ends today) and is having a big sale for the month of July on a host of other games. And I found a few good buys at Amazon too. Also, in the event that you don’t make it past the jump, I do want to point out that the Pikmin port for Wii (the one with the new controls) is Amazon’sDeal of the Daytoday....

Special Editions may not beso specialthese days, but theRenegade EditionofDJ Herocertainly does its job well, which is to say it makes the regular package look kind of crappy by comparison. If you’re at all serious about being a videogame DJ, here’s what Renegade Edition comes with: We weren’t told how much this bundle will run for, but it will probably cost a lot (the standardDJ Herois priced at $120) and you know what, the package doesn’t even includenight vision goggles....

Cory Doctorow has a new novel out aimed at the young adult audience called “For the Win.” It’s a story of a group of MMO players, all of whom having made their hobby into lucrative jobs, who become entangled in something greater than themselves. And, because Doctorow has strong opinions on copyright law and supports Creative Commons, he’s made the entire book available to download for free. I read the first few chapters last night and I’m intrigued....

That smart man who created a CPU inMinecraft —for reasons only fellowMinecraftplayers can understand — has publicly released the map that contains his monstrosity. He’s whipped up a little introductory video, which is attached above. The save file can be found on the video’s description, or you can justclick hereto initiate the download. Instructions are included in the folder, so that shouldn’t be much of an issue. On a related note, I went to bed late last night immediately after playingMinecraft....

I saw the title of the press release (located after the jump) in my inbox this afternoon and instantly got excited. Unfortunately, that anticipation quickly abated once I clicked on the email and realized that (A) when they say “football,” they’re referring to what we in the States call soccer, and (B) it’s a DS game. I don’t really follow soccer at all (except for the World Cup) and I don’t own a DS, so … yeah....

After theDragon Age Origin’ship caressing, Electronic Arts shifted the focus of their E3 press conference to BioWare’sMass Effect 2. The new details aren’t too hot, but we’re beginning to understand that whole “Shepard is dead,” thing better. He survived a suicide mission. A full gameplayer trailer with mammoth explosions and ships and people plunging into inky space accompanied the story details before EA made another transition toFight Night Round 4....

I know you probably just saw my post onGameloft’s offeringsfor the iPhone. I know, all you Gameloft fanboys (every, um, 4 of you) are scrambling for more info, and I’m here to pony up. Coming later this month, for 800 points to the Nintendo Wii isGhost Mansion. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect, but it really seems like a fun little game. Up to four players can work together across a board in a pumpkin car in a haunted mansion (it feels like a haunted house ride) and play through mini games and earning money to pay for scrolls....

What do you imagine when you think of Square Enix putting together a Wii-exclusive title? Well, what you’re picturing in your head is probably pretty close to whatFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearersactually is. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up to you. I liked it, though. And if you’re aFinal Fantasyfan that isn’t expecting anything groundbreaking or terribly challenging, I think you will too. I played a rather lengthy demo ofCrystal Bearers, a story-heavy wagglefest that has put a stylistic spin on everything that’s ever been done with the Wii Remote controller....

While E3’s been chock full of great news for just about everyone so far,Heavy Rainfans — and especially those who liked the“Taxidermist” DLC— might want to brace themselves a bit. Quantic Dream’s Guillaume de Fondaumière has toldGame Informerthat the second installment ofHeavy RainDLC has been put on hold for the time being. The reason? PlayStation Move compatibility comes first. Now that’s not awful, but here’s where it gets worse: as a result of the release’s timing, de Fondaumière believes Quantic will simply move on to its next project....
