Despite the fact that everybody was pretty sure about seeingWitcher 2on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, CD Projekt is now adamant that a console version was never a sure bet, stating that it’s only a “potential” release, and even if it happens, it won’t be coming any time soon. “We never did confirm a console release of [The Witcher 2],” says studio boss Tom Ohle. “The situation is still that we do want to bring theÂWitcher franchise to console gamers at some point, and we’ve buit an engine capable of console development… but have made no formal announcements of plans for a console release....

While mobile games get cheaper and cheaper, downloadable titles on the Xbox Live Arcade platform are rising in price according to Chris Charla, the XBLA portfolio director. Every year, more and more titles are priced at 1,200 MSP and 2011 alone already has 20 titles confirmed at 1,200 MSP. Is this a sign of things to come? Charla is unsure. “I don’t really know where prices are going to go – ultimately, that’s set by the market – but it has been really gratifying to see that people are willing to a premium price for digital content....

Considering we live in a world where people will makeDoomporn, it should hardly be surprising that a game likeBayonetta, already highly sexualized, has had more than a few lewd doodlings associated with it. Nevertheless, game director Hideki Kamiya has expressed great dismay at the idea. “It seems there’s pornorgraphic doujinshi based offBayonetta,” laments Kamiya. “There are fans who will resent that, and I hardly think those responsible hold any love for the game …”...

The good news is that the hackers got as far as an oldNeverwinter Nightsserver and there was no credit card information to be pilfered. The bad news is that user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birthdays for any accounts on that servers have been compromised....

A few days ago weposted an articleabout the PC versions ofMass EffectandSporecontaining some worrying copy protection methods that would require users to validate each game online every ten days. While I expressed concern that such a move could go horribly wrong, others were more vocal — chief among them the BioWare fans who absolutely railed against the somewhat harsh measures. Well, BioWare has said it listened “very closely” to the fans (though really, you didn’t need a hearing aid to register such fury from PC gamers) and has nowopted to back awayfrom the incredibly strict authentication methods....

Blood Bowl, the fantasy-themed gridiron game based on the Games Workshop board game of same name, is about to become a whole lot bigger with the release ofBlood Bowl: Legendary Editionon PC later this year.
