Atlus is teaming up with Frozenbyte, developers of physics-based surprise hitTrine, in a publishing deal on a yet-to-be-announced game, which will be released digitally in 2011. What is it? We have no idea! Following Trine, it’s probably something pretty good. It seems that Frozenbyte thinks it’s pretty good: “We couldn’t be happier signing our new game with Atlus. As an independent developer we felt that partnering with a publisher who is flexible and shares our vision of the game was the best way to bring the game out to a large audience,” said Lauri Hyvärinen, CEO of Frozenbyte....

The film adaptation ofPrince of Persiahas finally gotten a release date of July 10th, 2009. As of right now, that seems appropriate, considering the film is supposed to be a summer blockbuster, but has yet to get any actors or a director. As of now, it has been rumored that Michael Bay would direct the film, but that’s just rumors. The film has been sitting around for a while — it’s been mentioned back in my original “Upcoming video game movies” post....

Man, the Internet is really good at putting puzzle pieces together — Prototype 2 is real! So about that whole “Murder Your Maker” thing — the trailer seems to hint that players won’t be taking on the role of Prototype protagonist Alex Mercer. Instead, the voice over is from the perspective of one Sergeant James Heller, who appears to blame Mercer for ruining his life. Revenge is serious business. The game is set for a 2012 release date, and that’s a pretty long wait, but we’ll no doubt hear more soon....

Sacred 2is coming to home consoles this month and to celebrate, our friends at Rocket XL want to give someone in the Destructoid community anXbox 360along with a copy of CDV’s RPG sequel and some assorted swag. For the week ending September 6th in Japan, Sony managed to move more than 150,000 PS3s. That’s 151,783 in five days. Not bad for this long-time underdog. Believe it or not,t he PS3 outsold even the mighty DSi. Was it the new Slim unit redesign? Or was it the nice new price point that won the Japanese public over? Probably both. That, and we hear that the otaku are buying Blu-ray like crazy....
