In honor of the upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive I shall deliver all the news this weekend twice: First the sane way, and then the fear way. It’s the weekend, I get to do stuff like this (I hope… please don’t fire me). Sane:Before this news popped up I would have been hard pressed to name something more boring than watching cars drive around in a circle, but now that I’ve been reminded that there are NASCAR games, I think simulating driving a car around in a circle might win out....

Well holy crap — who knew they were making a new animatedAstro Boyfilm? Set to hit theaters next year, the film is being directed byFlushed Awaydirector David Bowers and was penned by the dude who wroteKindgergartenfreakin’Cop(Timothy Harris). Add in voices by Nic Cage and Kristen Bell and you’ve got yourself a whole ball of what-the-f**k. Not surprisingly, along with the film will come the release of a game, and D3Publisher has announced that it will be publishing the title next year....

And the Spike Video Game Awards show started off with the promised bang — in the initial seconds, a follow-up to Rocksteady’sBatman: Arkham Asylumwas unveiled. Nice, right? Here’s the scene: a massive present was rolled onto the main stage while large men equipped with smoke machines plodded through the walkways, puffing gas throughout the room. As members of the crowd acted like they came to the wrong awards show, Mark Hammil’s Joker spoke, teasing a sequel before a trailer made it a reality....

Remember thatBionic CommandodemoCapcom teased a few weeks back? Well, it’s coming tomorrow to Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Xbox 360 owners, fire up your Gold Xbox LIVE accounts; we’ve confirmed that Capcom has no plans for a PlayStation 3 or PC version of the demo. Tomorrow’s demo is multiplayer only, featuring one of the game’s deathmatch battles on the “Vertigo” map for up to ten players. The final game will ship with 16 maps....

In case you don’t remember (understandable since it was quite forgettable),Blackwas a sleek and good-looking FPS from Criterion back in the last generation that was lauded for its destructible environments. It was a particularly mediocre affair, but it looked amazing for its time, and apparently Criterioncould be deliveringa sequel. Criterion’s Web site temporarily displayed a listing forBlack: Second Missionbefore tearing it down like a much lauded destructible environment. The game is allegedly scheduled for a 2009 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC....

It’s been 15 years since we last saw Sparkster. The opossum left the kingdom he once protected (not by choice) and started a little family. The peace is broken one day by an army of invading wolves and Sparkster once again puts on the rocket suit to save his kingdom. Most of the levels will see Sparkster going through stages in traditional platforming fashion hacking foes down with his sword. There will also be several levels where Sparkster will fly through the air in shoot ’em up style where he’ll be using a couple of different projectile attacks....

Blizzard has decided to updatethe splash page of their official sitewith a teaser timeline of the company’s releases that ends in a big, glowing question mark. Currently, only two games on the timeline are highlighted:Warcraft: Orcs and HumansandWarcraft II: Tides of Darkness. One can guess that other games will be highlighted daily until this latest project is unveiled. One can also guess that the game will be revealed at the Blizzard World Wide Invitational that will be held in Seoul, Korea on May 19 and 20 (that’s six days from now and there are six games left on the timeline cue spooky music)....

TheEscalation downloadable contentforCall of Duty: Black Opshas been out since early this month on Xbox 360, but it’s only now preparing to launch for the other platforms. Timed exclusives, oh how fun you are. Activision says Thursday, June 2 is the dayfor PC gamers. Interestingly, the PlayStation 3 version was only mentioned as having “info coming soon.” Could be that the PlayStation Network downtime had an impact on getting the add-on ready for release....

Attendees at this weekend’sAnime Expowill have a chance to get their hands onTatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. This is the first time that the public will have a chance to check the title out. Capcomsays that this build isn’t final, but it is “100% awesome,” and features the characters that the gaming press got to check out at E3 earlier this year. As for any new reveals, they say nothing. We can still hope, though....

Like the jacket that Leon Kennedy wears in the beginning ofResident Evil 4? Well you can soon own a replica of the bomber jacket if you have around $300 to drop on it! Cacpom Japan is planning on releasing the replica jacket in multiple sizes early next year and you can place an order for it over onCapcom’s online store. The only catch here is that Capcom’s Japanese store won’t ship outside the US … dammit!...

In a casual playthrough of Capcom’s upcomingBionic Commandoat a CES 2009 event, a vending machine in the background scenery caught our eye while running by. We did a double take when we thought we saw something different than the imaginary brands plastered all over the post-apocalyptic setting of this title.Our double take confirmed it: there’s a Pepsi machine inBionic Commando. With a well-placed shot to the vending machine, cans of this delightful soft drink will be dispensed....

Ubisoft is asking for a hand or two or four hundred with naming of an Achievement inPrince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. For the next week the studiois holding a pollthat tasks participants with choosing their favorite Achievement or Trophy names that correspond with a specific action like “kill this dude like this,” or “run a long time like this.” The poll is available via Facebookhere. Sony lovers hoping to get there dirty hands onGears of Warare in for their millionth disappointment, with lead designer Cliff Bleszinski confirming that there’s “zero chance” of the series ever coming to the PS3.
