Vague press release is vague: EA Partners teams up with Starbreeze to do stuff

EA Partners has announced that it has teamed up withThe Darknessdeveloper Starbreeze Studios to do … something. That something is reinventing an unnamed EA classic franchise. But this is not just any franchise; we’re talking about one of their “most acclaimed classic franchises.” Codenamed internally as “Project RedLime,” the title is in production for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. And that’s really about all we know, unfortunately. “EA Partners is thrilled to hand over the keys to one of EA’s most acclaimed franchises to Starbreeze Studios,” says mayor of Vagueville and vice president and general manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini....

War for Cybertron will let you ‘understand’ Starscream

I’m a huge fanboy when it comes to Starscream, something I’ve never kept secret. For a cartoon commercial character, Starscream has always been one of the most surprisingly fascinating and curious characters ever created. He’s also one of the most gloriously underhanded, ambitious and bastardly. As a Starscream nut, I had to askWar for Cybertron‘s Matt Tieger how they’re tackling the character and asked the all-important question — High Moon Studios isn’t going to make him too sympathetic, are they?...

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine collector’s edition

I love me someWarhammer 40,000, so therecently announcedSpace Marine Collector’s Editionis a thing that I want. It’s lacking a statue or an exclusive 40K miniature (which would have beenbadass), but it’s still pretty dang good. Here’s what the special version, which costs $79.99, includes: There’s a range of pre-order DLC as well. Yet again, there’s different stuff for different retailers, so choose wisely!

Weapon of Choice speed run contest challenges you to move fast for prizes

Weapon of Choiceis by far my favorite XNA Community Game. What other XNA game features a stick monster that spews milk from its teats? Considering the wide berth of titles available for download, I consider originality (and good gameplay) quite a feat. Mommy’s Best Games, the developer for the title, is currently throwing a good old fashion speed run contest. It has some wicked prizes. The grand prizewinner will receive 4,000 Microsoft Points and an original framed piece of art fromWeapon of Choice, signed by artist of the teat-monster....

White Knight Chronicles 2: Date, info in Famitsu

I don’t have a release date for White Knight Chronicles 2 for you yet, but I will later this week. How can I be so sure? Twitter. Game director Kusuda Yoshiaki‘sTwitteraccount said that this week’s Famitsu will give the official release date for this RPG. Yoshiaki says that Famitsu will also detail exactly how your data from the first game will carry over to this sequel. That should be interesting. I know that many out there are still enjoying the online capabilities of the first one, and have put several hours into their game....

Will Halo 3 win any new fans?

Hi, I’m Aaron Linde. I’m 23 years old, a Sagittarius, and I’m not a big fan ofHalo. Before you mark me off your Christmas card list, lemme explain: I’m not a big fan of console first-person shooters, first and foremost. Unfortunately,Halois just part of that crew, if not its reigning king. In the last five years or so the console FPS has grown to eclipse other traditional genres, and big-name releases tend to draw the most attention of industry professionals and enthusiasts alike....

You got some government in my videogames: UK crackdown commencing

They tried to do it in America and failed multiple times through its unconstitutional nature. In England, however, there is nobody to stop the government from applying compulsory ratings on videogames, with legal ramifications for those who sell so-called “violent” titles to minors. With the Byron report coming soon, it is now fully expected thatthe government is going to step inand take some control over what content can and cannot be purchased....

Zen Albatross rocks us all at MAGFest

I’m a bit late at getting this up, but I had to bring everyone’s attention to Zen Albatross’s set at MAGFest. MAGFest had a huge Chiptunes component to it and not only did Zen (that’s him above) perform in the show, but he also opened up the entire thing with a talk on Chiptunes. Having little to no knowledge of Chiptunes it was an awesome introduction to the scene and the music....

‘Killer’ games: EU does what it does best & talks garbage while doing nothing

Yesterday, justice ministers in the European Union (haha)promisedthat they’d tighten regulations on the sale of ‘violent’ videogames to minors, going to lengths, like many ignorant organizations, to distinguish videogames from other forms of media like they’re somehow worse. Of course, calling them “killer games” as if gaming is a new and horrific strain of AIDS really helps matters. “There is broad consensus that much more needs to be done,” stated German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries, flying the flag for Germany’s obsession with strangling the videogame market, presumabley because most games on the shelves involve killing their ancestors....

‘Nintendo’ causes ‘panic attack’ in child, ‘parent’ hates videogames now

Who’s up for some delicious stupidity? A mother is taking her son’s “Nintendo” back to the store after he had some kind of nervous reaction to it, and now she’s decided that videogames are rubbish. Thanks to somediligent and thorough mainstream reporting, we also have no idea as to what system this “Nintendo” is, because, y’know, Nintendo is a publishing company andnota console. The report claims that 5-year-old Michael had a “panic attack” after playing on “his Nintendo” for half an hour....
