Just when we thought we had seen it all, eagle-eyedDtoider Guitaratomikhas unearthed what will surely take home 2008s “Most Unnecessary in Gaming” award — the “Rock Band Stage Kit.” Thelisting found on GameStop.comhas since been stripped of its image (and contains no real information), but Guitaratomik was fast like a puma, and was able to snag the above screencap. Good thing, too, because there’s no way anyone would have believed that the “stage kit” was actually an “Interactive Light and Stage Show....

But after seeing this trailer, I’m completely sold.Lollipop Chainsawtells the tale of Juliet Starling, a zombie hunting cheerleader who has to fend off an undead outbreak that’s overrun her school. Stupid? Certainly. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s a stupid concept in all of the right ways....

PC gamers will be able to get their clawed hands on Capcom’sLost Planet 2come October 15th. This game has DirectX 9 and 11 support inside, and also plays nice with NVIDIA’s 3D Vision and 3D Vision Surround tech. Capcom says that with DirectX 11, “smoke will have lifelike volume and depth, water surfaces react realistically to player interaction and bullets, and level bosses are rendered with more detail than ever before....

As promised, Apple has launched its App Store for Mac OS today. Mac owners can access the store after doing a free software update. The new hub gives Mac owners easy access to a number of free and paid applications for their OS, including games. On the paid side of things,Angry Birds,Toki Tori,LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4,Bejeweled 3, andFlight Control HDare among the features apps on the store. Free titles includeSolitaire Greatest Hits, poker, and other things that aren’t quite as exciting asAngry BirdsandBejeweled....

Minecraft, the indie success and Destructoid staff obsession, is headed to Apple’s iOS devices. Markus Persson, Swedish founder of the studio Mojang, says that versions are in the works for both iPad and iPhone. The regular updates to the browser/download version won’t necessarily be applied to the iOS game — only the features that “make sense” for a touch screen. There have been a few unofficialMinecraftrelease for iOS, but this would make the first official version....

Today Deep Silver released a bunch of screenshots for their upcoming PlayStation Portable titleMytran Wars. It appears to be a cute little turn-based strategy title. I haven’t had the pleasure of checking it out before now, but I’m sure it’s great since it has my three favorite things in the world (that aren’t drugs): mechs, aliens and Coldstone Creamery’s Sans Fat ice cream. The game is based in the 23rd century where great scientists have figured out a way to build large, bipedal machines that men can drive....

It seems a strange reversal, seeing as the original news apparently came from Atari, but at the moment it seems the rest of the world can breathe easy and be thankful....

The Witcher 2is coming to Xbox 360 via THQ, and a certain jilted publisher isn’t happy about it. Namco Bandai oversaw the physical release of the PC version, and it believes it has a right to handle the 360 one too. To the Lawyer Cave! The lawsuit says CD Projekt RED broke a contract by first removing DRM from the game, then jumping ship to a new publisher. “I hope that the whole thing will end with a pre-litigation settlement,” said CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski....
