I guess a few Swedish gamers didn’t get the memo that you can actually pre-order games in this dazzling 21st century.The above imageis one of several insane Swedes who are actually camping outside a store forGrand Theft Auto IV— damn near two and a half weeks before it even arrives. In comparison I could head into town and most likely pick up two copies on launch day. Maybe there’s some videogame shortage I didn’t hear about in Sweden, but this borders on the slightly braindamaged as far as I am concerned....

The winners of the Game Critics “Best of E3 2011” have been announced, and the team at Irrational Games should be proud. The developer’s upcoming gameBioShock Infinitewalked away with four awards, including “Best of Show,” winning in every category it was nominated in. Earlier this month, Gaijin Games (ofBit.Tripfame) announced that they’d be teaming up with Jason Cirillo’s Robotube Games fora 24-hour jam session at this year’s Blip Festival. The idea was to sit around, get high on PCP, and write code all day, resulting in something playable. Given that Blip happened over the weekend, it should stand to reason that Gaijin and Robotube should have something to show for themselves (the horse tranquilizers notwithstanding), right?...

Heavy Raindirector and Tommy Wiseau clone David Cage has been making more ludicrous assertions, this time demanding that the game industry move on from old methods … by comparing them toolderentertainment mediums. “I approach videogames the same way I approach theatre, filmmaking, poetry or painting. When it comes to all things CES, words only mean so much. Anyone can claim to have the hottest, most feature-packed device on the planet, but you truly need to see the product in question to believe. CNET got its handson the Sixense control system, which is essentially a Wii remote with the accuracy of a Bullet Hell aficionado. The remote utillizes a technology called TrueMotion to measure exactly what position the controller is in, allowing for much more realistic on-screen movement....

As Crytek haspreviously made clear,Crysis Warheadwill be their last PC-exclusive game. Naturally, most people (myself included) expected this to mean that future projects would be ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the two most powerful consoles of this generation. Curiously, though, anew job listingshows that Crytek is seeking a programmer for the PlayStation Portable. While it’s certainly possible that Crytek may be looking into porting future titles to the PSP, I find myself somewhat doubtful over the handheld’s ability to run the high-end graphics that their current games contain....

No promises, but Crytek UK may very well be getting ready to make a brand newTimeSplittersgame. The studio — composed primarily of former Free Radical guys — is in talks with publishers over the possibility of releasing a new game. If there’s enough interest, it looks like a thing that could happen. “We’re talking to publishers at the moment about whether that’s a viable route or not,” says managing director Karl Hilton....

I think the thing aboutDead Spacethat has me most intrigued, from a technical standpoint, has to be the zero gravity. In this developer’s diary, Senior Development Director Michael Condrey and Executive Producer Glen Schofield talk about what went into creating the zero-g areas of the game and provide a glimpse into what players can expect with the game releases next month. According to the video, zero-g makes up roughly twenty percent of the game....
