Free App of the Day: 180

Today’s App was spotted by our very own Nick Chester, and it’s really rather cool. Color matching puzzle games are nothing new, especially on iTunes where they flourish like bacteria. However,180is worth checking out for its cool flip gimmick and robust challenge. It’s free, it’s a puzzle game. If you like puzzle games, get it. If you hate puzzle games, don’t. That’s about all there is to say, really.

Free App of the Day: Today I Die Again

What is this, artsy fartsy week? Yesterday I gave youiCarus, a minimalist, vague art game, and today I give youToday I Die Again. I’m sure the very title will tell you what type of game this is. And yet, cynicism aside,Today I Die Againis quite an enthralling little title. Lots of style, and it’s one of those rare art games where the lack of specific direction actually works to make the game feel more rewarding....

Well, it’s not so much a hint as it is coming right out and saying thatDevil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha versus King Abaddonis coming out on May 14th. It comes preloaded with 187 classic arcade games, although unfortunately you have to add your own beer. GC 10: Assassins Creed: Brotherhood single-player preview

The renaissance was a time of great invention and inspiration. However, it might never have come to the city of Rome had it not been for a guild of assassins stalking the shadows, eliminating the repressive elements of society with lethal precision. That might not be how the history books tell it, but this is how the events took place in the single-player portion ofAssassins Creed: Brotherhood. The beautiful city of Rome is your hunting ground, and at roughly three times the size of any city found inAssassins Creed 2, you can be sure that there are plenty of opportunities to stealthily tail your prey from the rooftops with deadly intent in mind....

GDC 10: Windows 7 Mobile is game-focused, ready

I know that we finally got to see a bit of what Microsoft had up their sleeves for mobile gaming at the recent Mobile Congress. I’d guess that anyone even remotely interested sat up and took notice of the changes Windows 7 Mobile would bring to your pocket. Today I got a better look at how gaming is going to work on the platform. Everything from the slick W7M interface to the Xbox Live integration impressed in this meeting with Charlie Kindel, program manager for the Windows Phone Application Platform & Developer Experience, and Michael Klucher, lead program manager at XNA Game Studio....

GDC 2007: Crytek2 Engine; thus, I saw the glory of God … and it was good

If there was one thing to be taken away fromMr. Miyamoto’skeynoteearlier todayit’s that all of the women and most of the men in that audience would murder their parents for a chance to be impregnated by that man. If there is a second thing, though, it’s that games do not have to exhibit the latest in graphics or technology to entertain people. This may be so, but the boys atCrytekmake a very convincing case otherwise....

Geek sells Warcraft account for $9,500. Idiot buys Warcraft account for $9,500

Value is a subjective thing. I could never personally justify spending thousands of dollars for a chair just because somebody says it’s an antique. That said, I spend a ridiculous amount of money buying the latest videogames that I’m sure others would find a complete waste of one’s funds. Perhaps with this in consideration, it’s wrong to callsomebody who spends €7000(roughly $9,500) to buy someone else’sWorld of Warcraftaccount an idiot. Perhaps it is, but … let’s face it, he’s a complete idiot....

Get Comcast, and then get a Wii

From today until August 17, Comcast is giving a free Wii to anyone who signs up for their Preferred Plus and Premier Triple Play packages. The partnership, according to Comcast’s press release, is “merging together the joy of a super-fun video gaming experience with the power of super-fast Internet speed.” What they fail to mention is that the joy can only be experienced after calling up your buddy, asking for his Friend code, and then buying a Bluetooth headset so you can keep talking to him on the phone while you play a game together....

Get the Uncharted 3 multiplayer right now through Subway

So, I’ve been doing this job for over five years now and I’ve done a lot ofcrazy stuff. Yesterday though? Yesterday was the strangest event for me yet. PlayStation and Subway have teamed up to do an actually rad promotion forUncharted 3and they invited the press to play some of the multiplayer at a Subway. Yes, like an actual Subway restaurant. So there I was, playing theUncharted 3multiplayer while I was overwhelmed by the smell of Subway....
