Silent Hill 2 screenwriter sentenced to a year in jail

…for messing with my favorite videogame series. Kidding. That was actually in bad taste, and here’s why. Screenwriter Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction) is sitting in the slammer for causing a traffic accident in Southern California, saysComingsoon. The recently appointedSilent Hill 2screenwriter plead guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for a fatal accident that he caused last year. It was reported that he was driving over 100 mph. Drunk and that fast?...

Silicon Knights ‘working on several exciting projects’

Silicon Knights, last seem dividing the videogame community over its much-hypedToo Human, have been relatively quiet lately. Until recently, when a potential upcoming title —Siren in the Maelstrom— was revealed by Telefilm Canada on a list of upcoming projects. Speaking toEurogamer, a spokesperson for the developer was unsurprisingly quiet and vague. “Silicon Knights is busy working on several exciting projects. Unfortunately, it is too early to disclose any details.”...

Sorry, no enhanced version of new RunMan game coming

Upon completing Tom Sennett and Matt Thorson’sRunMan: Race Around the World, I had only one thought — namely, that the two creators oughtta be drowning in money for making such a damned good platformer. I wondered if the two had considered pulling a Derek Yu, and making an updated version of the game for XBLA or PSN. “I would say don’t hold your breath,” Sennett said via email. “I’d much rather just make a brand new RunMan game....

Spider-Man: WoS launch trailer reminds of the Spider-Man 3 movie, in a bad way

Here we have the launch trailer forSpider-Man: Web of Shadowsand … whoa whoa whoa! What’s up with the emo-ness in this trailer? Oh man, it’s like I’m watchingSpider-Man 3again. Oh God, not again!!! Sure, the trailer is a bit melodramatic, but it really sets the mood for the game. Heroes and villains alike get infected with the Symbiote and it’s Peter Parker against all these odds, more or less by himself....

TGS 2007: White Knight Story trailer even gives women boners

The above video is the brand new trailer for Level 5’s upcomingWhite Knight Story. The animation and art direction throughout the clip are utterly top-notch and the entire time it was playing — while holding a notebook over my genitals to avoid embarassment — I was giggling and clapping like a mongoloid child you’d see wandering the aisles of your local Wal-Mart wearing a helmet and drool bib while being distracted by shiny colors and bright signage....

TGS: Ghost Trick gameplay trailer

Here’s a trailer, along with some screenshots forGhost Trickthat Capcom released yesterday. The video gives a good idea of what the gameplay and story of the DS game will be, as you see a swarthy gentlemen experiencing some car trouble at the hands of the player. It reminds me an awful lot ofGeist, a 2005 FPS for the Gamecube which failed pretty terribly. I rather liked the game but see much more promise inGhost Tricksimply because it’s trying to do less....

TGS: The first 30 minutes of Dark Souls

From Software are some real, tough dudes. Not in that they can kick my ass (probably), but in that their game design philosophy and dedication to their craft make other developers look like complete pants-pissing wimps. They don’t give interviews, because they rather have the games speak for themselves. They don’t make easy and simple games, because they WANT to play hard and complex games. Seeing the evolution of theDemon’s Soulsseries (alongsideArmored Core V) is seeing the evolution of From Software turning into an innovative Japanese developer that finds ways to appeal to a wider audience without sacrificing what makes their games so memorable....

The Last Window getting localized for Westerners

Nintendo has filed a trademark in Europe forThe Last Window: Midnight Promise, providing the first hint thatHotel Dusk‘s sequel is coming to the West for we filthy round-eyed devils to enjoy. The Last Windowisn’t currently trademarked in the US, but hopefully it will be coming to North America too. It’s not like Nintendo to release something in Europe without releasing it in the States, because we’ve all established by now by Nintendo hates Europe....
