Gamers have been begging for a sequel toCrackdownfor years. The original game, developed by Realtime Worlds, became a cult hit due to its surprising and empowering gameplay, not to mention the fact that it came packed with a beta code forHalo 3. Whether it was the former or the latter that led toCrackdown‘s success is up for debate, but whatever the reason, people lovedCrackdownand the announcement of the sequel was cause for celebration....
Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network are getting a new multiplayer online battle arena game thanks to dtp entertainment and Ronimo Games. It’s calledAwesomenauts. Yup. When your game has mohawked frogs, capsule-bound brain dudes, and primates with jetpacks, I suppose you are obligated to name itAwesomenauts. If the art style seems familiar, that’s because Ronimo previously worked onSwords and Soldiers— check out that neat HUD. We’re being promised more info at E3, so enjoy these few screenshots until then....
Sometimes less is more, as withRotastic, the new game from indie developer Dancing Dots. The entire control scheme is one button. That’s it; you use one button to grapple. In case you hadn’t noticed from the launch trailer, there is more to this than just swinging from point to point. If you are interested inRotastic, you’re able to pick it up on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MSP, anyone who wants it on the PC or PlayStation 3 will have to wait until next year....
The Nintendo DS Lite, the second iteration of Nintendo’s popular dual screen handheld, is no more. According to a GameStop internal memo, once they’ve cleared out their stock, that’s it — Nintendo won’t be shipping any more. “Nintendo doesn’t comment on rumor and speculation,” the publisher told us when we contacted them for confirmation. Maybe they’re on auto-pilot from all thisProject Cafe stuff. We figured an internal memo from one of North America’s largest specialty retailers was pretty solid evidence, but I suppose we’ll go with “rumor” for now....
As much as I love my PSP, I’d rather playMetal Gear Solidgames on the big screen. They’re so cinematic and great sounding that I feel like I’m wanting more. I hope this rumor of a PSP to PS3 port of the latest game,Peace Walker, is true. And while there’s nothing to actually give this other rumor weight, I hope this one thatCVGis trying to start is also true. There’s a new rumor that some news on the game will be shared at the Spike Video Game Awards....
With or without Cory Barlog on board,God of War IIIwill be a reality on the PlayStation 3. This much we know. The game will likely be rated M (for mature!) and will feature Kratos fighting gigantic bosses, hopefully in full 1080p. Itshould also supportthe Dual Shock 3, so we can feel every last shiver and shake of Kratos’ rippling muscles and brutality. While all of this sounds like great fun,according to Game Radar’s“reliable Sony source,” don’t hold your breath for too long....

Off-Road Velociraptor Safariwas an Internet sensation. Partially because it was free-to-play, but primarily because it was a game in which you controlled a raptor who chased after other dinosaurs in a 4×4. A truly great concept if I’ve ever seen one. Flashbang Studios had an HD, premium version of the game in development, but that’s no longer the case. Founder Matthew Wegner explains what went wrong in a blog post, which you all ought to read....
