THQ reviving World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars series

In 2002, Infogrames and Ratbag Games releasedWorld of Outlaws: Sprint Cars 2002. It was a limited run game that was widely requested and it had a huge cult-like following. I was working videogame retail during the time the game came out and nearly every week I would get people asking about it. For whatever reason, a sequel was never made and the franchise just disappeared. THQ has decided to change all that and are bringing the world of sprint cars to consoles once again....

Of the twenty free games current 3DSowners are gettingin exchange for having bought the system at full price, ten are NES titles, and the rest are Game Boy Advance games. Nintendo hasn’t said what each individual “Ambassador program” game will be yet, but we have two more to add to the confirmation list. Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3(I really do hate this naming scheme, even years later) andKirby & the Amazing Mirrorare both set on the GBA side....

Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy’s EndWar

The mystery projectcoming out of the Ubisoft/Tom Clancy camp has been revealed asTom Clancy’s EndWar. The surprise — it’s a strategy game! While not much is known about the game, all will be revealed in the June issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. What we do know, however, is that the game will take place on the battlefields of World War III. The game is being built from the ground up for next-generation consoles; while it’s not specified in the press release (which you may read after the jump), one can only assume they mean PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360....

There’s a new studio in Toronto for Ubisoft. Jade Raymond, now the studio’s general manager, took her team from Montreal and relocated recently. According toGamasutra, this is set to be a triple-A only studio, meaning that the team there is not messing with the small stuff and portable titles. Raymond says that she hopes to grow the staff in their new studio to over 800 people in ten years, and that she’s already plowing through over 2,000 resumes....

UK Charts: Prototype consumes The Sims

I enjoyPrototype, but I never expected it to do as well as it’s been doing. For some reason, the completely original IP that hasn’t been given a huge push by Activision has actually made its way to number one in the UK Charts. It debuted at number two last week and I expected it to drop a few places. This is surprising news indeed. Ghostbustersdebuts at number four, but otherwise it’s the same old story, withWii Fit,World at Warand other UK Chart mainstays putting in their regular appearances....

Why not?: Prototype 2 image for St. Patrick’s Day

Activision sent over a Prototype 2 image in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t exactly know why, but here it is. The image reveals next to nothing about the game, although it’s nice to know that Kratos is still getting work after Sony closed the book on theGod of Wartrilogy. Prototype 2is scheduled for release in 2012, and here’s hoping we get an image for every single holiday between now and then....

Ever since 2007’sThe King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, we’ve collectively become entranced by this overblown Billy Mitchell vs. Steve Wiebe(vs. Hank Chien) conflict. I guess we all love a good fight. The majority of you will be pleased to hear that Wiebehas reclaimed the top spotinDonkey Kongwith his latest Twin Galaxies-approved score of 1,064,500 points. Wii Music, Summer Sports and other rubbish get dumped on by the Associated Press

As 2008 enters its final few days, the upstanding journalistic folks of the Associated Press have decided to takea huge ceremonial dumpon what it believes are five of the very worst games of the year.
