Sega has released a new batch of screenshots for upcoming Platinum Games titleBayonetta, a game that’s shaping up to be just my cup of tea. Balls-to-the-wall combat, absolutely ridiculous concepts, and a heroine who seems to have giraffe legs. These are the three ingredients toanyperfect action game. With the pedigree ofDevil May Crycreator Hideki Kamiya behind Bayonetta, I expect good things, as do a majority of the Destructoid staff. Fingers are crossed, but the chaps at Platinum rarely let us down....

We’ve heard time and time again aboutDiablo IIIpossibly coming to consoles due to job listings posted by Blizzard. Frankly, this story has gotten incredibly old, but we do finally have more to go on. At gamescom, lead designer Josh Mosqueira said that Blizzard “is very, very serious about bringing theDiablo IIIexperience to the console.” “Today, we’re trying to build the best console team at Blizzard. We’re looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bringDiabloto the console....

I live in Indiana. Because corn is more favorable than entertainment, I often have to explain what a videogame or a console is before I can purchase them at normal retail outlets. It appears as though one of our local rent-to-own establishments is preying on my problem – people don’t know what the hell they are buying out here amidst the fields. Not many Wii games get post-releases patches, but I suppose not as many are as big a deal as Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game’s developer has announced that it will release a patch for the title within the next two weeks. “We have fixed many of the problems you have reported and are currently eating those fixes in an update,” wrote Treyarch community man, Josh Olin, on theBlack Opsforums....

There were quite a few disappointed faces greeting yesterday’s news thatGod of War: Collectionwon’t be coming to Europe until 2010, if indeed it comes at all. Luckily, however, Sony has provided some good news for those with an eye to importing the game.It will be region-free. This is something most people had anticipated, since practically every PS3 game ships this way. It’s one of the best decisions Sony ever made, and it of course means that those in Europe who are desperate for some old school Kratos action all up in their Blu-ray can import the game from a reputable dealer or cutthroat mercenary operating out of the back of his brother’s van in East Croydon....

Microsoft has been showing off all of their new Xbox Live Arcade games at CES 2007 and boy do they look good. Of these upcoming titles,Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, is looking to be one of the more anticipated.Any fan of theCastlevaniaseries will tell you how much this game rocked, so let’s hope the port will be just as good, if not better. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m almost ready to forgive the lack of decent XBLA releases after seeing what is in store for us....

The fine folks from LucasArts invited us to a private showing of their new, next-generation IP,Fracture. In theFractureworld,the United States aren’t so united anymore. In the 2100’s, global warming causes The Great Flood, and this splits the country into two parts. The East coast becomes the Atlantic Alliance, and they side with Europe to focus on cybernetics. The West becomes The Republic of Pacifica, and they side with Asia, choosing genetics over cybernetics....

Sony has been teasing this fantasy racing car they’ve put together with Red Bull Racing for some time now. It’s finally revealed and we have plenty of pictures to share with you. The car was the answer to a big ‘what if.’ They wanted to use Gran Turismo 5 to see what the fastest race car would be outside any regulation. The X1 is it. The result? 1,483hp at 15,000rpm, a top speed of 400kmh and up to 6G of lateral G-force....

Mario’s 25th anniversary is here and Club Nintendo is celebrating with some new themed items. Starting on Oct. 20, members will be able to redeem their Club Nintendo coins for a special “Evolution of Mario†screen saver and four limited-edition pins commemorating the 25th anniversary. It’s no special game re-release or anything like that, but we’ll take it. The screen saver features footage from Mario games over the last 25 years....

Similar to the shift fromDawn of Warto its successor, so too willCommand & Conquer 4:Tiberian Twilighthave less of an emphasis on all-out base building. Not that there isn’t a time and a place for that style of play, but sometimes you just want to get into the action sooner. This is one of the main reasons why I’m interested inC&C4.
