I can’t say I’ve noticed this problem being too bad myself but there seems to be plenty of Steam users annoyed, in your typical Internet fashion, by repeated installations of the latest version of DirectX. In a post replyingto these complaints, Valve admin JMcCaskey claims the problem lies with DirectX’s helper library, called D3DX; there can be up to 40 different versions of this file which are tied to the actual compiler for the game....

Why aren’t more ads like this?

This 1980s Nintendo ad for Game Pak organizers and labels was cleverly changed by an unknown person to make the information a little more interesting. The pictures are still exactly the same as the original ad, but the both text in purple background and white background have been changed. The purple background text reads as follows: There’s a chill in the air this crisp autumn night but you’re warm and safe in your living room, relaxing with a glass of fruit juice and a game of Castlevania....

To be fair, the tip also mentioned that Medieval Europe could be a potential setting, but that’s boring. We’ve already done old times with white people twice. Let’s get some badass ninja and samurai in there! On a German gaming television show calledPLAY’D, Ubisoft’s Philippe Bergeron mentioned a couple of possible settings forAssassin’s Creed 3. There are two things that come to mind: There is medieval Europe, which would be very interesting trying to play a King Arthur story line....
