Swedish studio A Different Game has come out of the woodworkto announcethe DSi’s very first ‘augmented reality’ title,Ghostwire. The game intends to use the DSi’s in-built camera functionality to its fullest, finally providing us with a worthwhile game that takes advantage of the DSi’s unique features. At least, that’s the idea. Players will use the camera to scan their surroundings, while the game superimposes ghosts over the images projected on-screen. Sounds interesting for sure, but we’ll definitely have to see if there’s enough gameplay there, or if this is just a neat idea stretched out in an attempt to make it a game....

Microtransactions aren’t a new trend by any means, but they generally stay within a reasonable price range. It also helps that most of these games allow players to earn ingame currency by playing, albeit at a greatly reduced rate. In the case of Glu Mobile’stwin-stick shooterGun Bros, that “reasonable price range” has takena bit of a jolt. The game’s top weapon, The Kraken, has received a price increase that sets it at 3,499 Warbucks (Gun Bros....

Hunted: The Demon’s Forgeis one of my more anticipated titles of 2011. I was impressed with what Iplayed at PAX, and the notion of a co-op cocktail blending hack n’ slash combat with cover-based shooting is particularly tantalizing to this fan of both. This new trailer, which represents the first we’ve seen of Hunted for quite a while, is suitably exciting and worth a watch. I’ve been concerned with the low-key marketing this one is getting, so hopefully we’ll see more soon....

As you have no doubt heard, a brand-newMortal Kombatgame iscoming in 2011. Usually an announcement trailer tells you very little about the game, so it’s surprising to see this video reveal not only a bunch of characters like Shao Kahn and Raiden, but plenty of gameplay too! I’m no huge fighting game fan, but I’ve always had a soft spot forMortal Kombatand this trailer makes it look pretty cool. What do you reckon?...

High Voltage’s main man, Eric Nofsinger, is already looking pastThe Conduit. He recently toldWiiRincontrolthat High Voltage is possibly looking to do the same thing for RPGs that (hopefully)The Conduitwill do for the FPS genre on the Wii – that is, give it a “shot in the arm.” When asked if there was a possibility of RPGs in the developer’s future Nofsinger said to “keep your eyes peeled because in the future we’ll be announcing some other titles we’ve already got underway in development” before adding that there are a “number of genres that are poorly represented on the Wii for core gamers … ”...

As Thanksgiving is only a few days away and my creativity is as limited as my enthusiasm, it’s time for a Christmas-themed Indie Nation! Yay! Thankfully, however, this week’s game isn’t anywherenearas annoying as hearing “Jingle Bell Rock” on every single radio station for the next month. In fact, I’d go so far as to say thatGarden Gnome Carnageis pretty damned fun regardless of its barely Christmas-y theme. Garden Gnome Carnageis sort of a tower defense/physics game hybrid that, quite frankly, is way more addictive and fun than it has any real right to be....

The upcoming action-mystery game,Insecticide, is set to come out February 12 next year on the DS and PC. There will also be episodic releases for the PC version soon after the initial release. InInsecticide, you play as detective Chrys Lyst as she tries to solve the biggest case the … colony has ever seen. The game is a mix between platformer and detective sequences. The platformer aspect reminds me ofJet Force Geminias you run around shooting the the enemy bugs....

Before we jump into this, let me catch you up to speed. It’s my job to obsess over these sorts of factoids, and even I had forgotten about some ofProject Offset‘s history. Every time the first-person fantasy game is shown in any capacity, it looksabsolutely gorgeous. Problem is, we have little reason to believe the game will ever be fully released.
