One of the things that has always amazed me is the prevalence of pinball games on home consoles and handhelds. If you had told me in the 80s that the game of pinball would survive in a pretty major way in the world of videogames I would have been very skeptical. However, it is an ever growing genre of videogames as in evidenced by the ESRB leaking the fact that many of Sony’s exclusive franchises will begetting the pinball treatment....
Sony has been late to the party on most things this generation, but the platform will be damned if it won’t try to compete with absolutely everybody. Not content to follow Nintendo with its own Wiimote, Sony has revealed that the PSEye will be taking on Microsoft’s Project Natalthanks to some nattyfacial recognition software. To be fair though, at least Sony started the whole Natal stuff with its EyeToy shenanigans....

The trailer, as trailers go, looks nice but reveals little. What we do know is that you’ll once again take control of Starkiller, Darth Vader’s apprentice. But from what we hear in the trailer, it seems you may have choice — along with Vader’s voice, we also hear Yoda giving sage words of advice....
You know what we haven’t had in a while? SomeDynasty Warriors 7screenshots! These show off a bunch ofrecently revealed characters— Zhang He, Dong Zhuo, Xiao Qiao, Liu Bei, Xiahou Ba and Liu Chan. Of note in these screens is the fact that corrupt regent Dong Zhuo gets an all-new weapon, trading in his serrated sword for a rather beastly single-headed meteor hammer. This gets points for being one of the only weapons inDynasty Warriorsthat is actuallyofChinese descent....

I’ve been too busy with my 3DS to remember that there were some badass games to come out for the PSP these past couple of months. Well, that’s a lie. I rememberedDissidia DuodecimandValkyria Chronicles 3, and both make playingNintendogs + Catson my 3DS seem silly. Not being a fanboy — just saying. Still, there’s some great PSP games out now. I did totally forget aboutTactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. It seems I was the only one to forget, as Square Enix’s title was the best-selling PSP game of February in North America, according to the NPD group....
NCsoft has been a very popular bunch here at gamescom and it isn’t just because ofGuild Wars 2. At the press conference, we saw the announcement ofWildStar, a completely new MMO from the also newly announced Carbine Studios. Tecmo is working on a game calledQuantumthat I got to peek at during E3. The game is looking like it could potentially be quite good, but there’s no denying the fact that it looks almostexactlylikeGears of War, from the gameplay to the character designs. Maybe you’re like me and spent your weekend fighting against illness, unable to brave the cold world to pick up a copy ofNew Super Mario Bros. On one hand, I’m glad thatVelvet Assassinhas been delayed. It means more time to polish the game and it won’t get lost in the sea of triple A titles coming out this year. On the other hand, it means I have to wait even longer now for the game … unless you count the fact that I’ll be getting my hands on the game later this month for a preview.
