If playing andwatchingAssassin’s Creedisn’t enough for you, Ubisoft and Penguin Books have announced that it will be publishing a book based on the upcoming sequel. Assassin’s Creed Renaissancewill hit shelves this November, closely following the release ofAssassin’s Creed II, and we know little about it. Really, the press release announcing the work of fiction doesn’t say if the book is a prequel, a follow-up, or an adaptation toAssassin’s Creed II. Penguin Books’ Editorial Director Alex Clark says that the game and its fiction “dovetails perfectly with the appetite of historical fiction fans,” which tells us absolutely nothing, really....

Moore, unlike the evil Easter Bunny who spews lies, has laid down a bit of good news recently.Speakingat the recentMI6 conferenceMoore said that EA has finally learned their lesson about porting down games from the 360 or PS3 to the Wii. “You simply can’t take what you’re doing on the PS3 and Xbox and port — that’s a dirty word — down to the Wii,” he said, following that up with a few comments about how EA has learned their lesson and will be developing Wii games from the ground up from now on....

Everybody’s favorite online games rental service has a version ofPlants vs. Zombiesin their list of upcoming titles. It’s listed for Xbox 360, which will no doubt please users of that console if this winds up to be true. It makes perfect sense that the game would arrive on the home consoles eventually. Interesting that such a thing would be listed at Gamefly, however. Gamefly deals in discs and cartridges. This would lead me to suspect that, if this is a really real thing, that the game will be shipping on a disc....

Another night in Moscow was an interesting event. While many of the games were decidedly Russian in nature and narrative (where’s looking atMen of War: Red TideandDeath to Spies: Moment of Truth), quite a few of the games bucked the trend that a game published by 1C Company should have a level that takes place in Siberia. Captain Bloodis one such game. Based on theCaptain Bloodseries of novels by Rafael Sabatini, as well as the Errol Flynn-starring films, theCaptain Bloodvideogame is as decidedly pirate as you may get....

If you would so kindly remember, a few years back Rockstar released a brawler based off the 1979 film, The Warriors. Widely well received, the game offered a fresh appreciation for the violent film. It would appear that the extendedPlayStation Network downtimehas started to hit the console at retail, with increased reports of PS3 owners trading in their black box o’ Blu-ray to get an Xbox 360. Apparently, paying for online play is better than no online play at all. “In the first week of downtime we did not really see any major change in sales or trades,” said one store manager. “However from the second week onwards we have seen an increase of over 200% on PS3 consoles being traded in, split almost 50/50 between those trading for cash and those taking a 360 instead....

Yesterday, THQ announced theRed Faction: Guerilla Collector’s Editionfor the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. THQ are strictly adhering to theestablished formulaof limited editions by offering us a lot of the same stuff. Normally, this is where I would make some joke about the unoriginality of the product or take a jab at the figurine offered with the package, but I cannot. Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingradhas been moved out of August thanks to a short delay. The long-awaited WWII PC shooter will be releasing on June 19, 2025. Yeah, this moves the game into the time of year when big-name games start coming out and don’t stop until the holiday season. But it seems to be doing something special and there are certainly vocal fans cheering it on. Plus, Tripwire Interactive says “we felt we needed the extra two weeks to get it right and add the extra polish the game (and the players) deserve....

If you’re anything like me, you grew up with the dream of becoming a princess. My own experience with the dream has been dampened by age. Instead of becoming a beautiful, graceful, and empathetic person of stature, I grew a beard and started writing about videogames.
