It’s been a long and boring road for Ubisoft’s kinda-sorta-awaited survival title,I Am Alive. After several years of development, most of them devoid of information, Ubisoft has announced that it is still kicking, and is heading to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. This news comes by way of a video in which executive Jade Raymond confirmed a digital release for the game, which is due out later this year....

WayForward’s upcomingA Boy and His Blobhas elicited reactions of excitement and anticipation from gamers ever sinceit was first announced for the Wii. The game was paricularly fascinating to retro fans at Dtoid (ahem, me) and I had a dozen questions the moment I saw the first screen. Are the mysterious jelly beans back? Does boy stilll look like a retard when he climbs a ladder? Will the game be as mind-numbingly difficult as the first one?...

In news that may not surprise anybody, new figures have revealed that iPhone/iPod games are raking in more cash than PSP games. Considering the fact that gaming isn’t the iPhone’s primary function, this is still pretty considerable news, no matter how obvious it may be. According to an NPD data analysis, the iPhone is now responsible for 19% of all revenue generated by handheld games (as of 2009), compared to the PSP’s 11%....

It seems as if there’s no end to the influence that gaming has over art, from tiny craft projects to full scale re-enactments of the games we remember from our childhoods. In his newest series of photographs, artistPatrick Runtebrings us real life visions of the characters fromPac-Man,Space Invaders,Pong,Tetris, and more (see them all at his website). Homefrontdeveloper Kaos Studios has stated a belief that I think many PC gamers won’t argue — that large-scale online games need dedicated servers, and that they’re unplayable without them. Take note, Infinity Ward! Homefrontwill feature dedicated servers across PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with PC players also able to set up local servers. “For 32 players, you have to have dedicated servers, or else it would be unplayable,” says community manager Jeremy Greiner....

Jesse McCartney has taken time out of his busy pop career to pull on the spandex uniform of Captain Obvious. They go on to say that the multiplatform title (PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC) will feature a younger Prince than seen in previousPoPtriolgy, will be a prequel to that series, and signal the start of the new trilogy....

They’re interesting to look at, especially at the surface level where you’ll notice that the most popular unlocks are mainly on the human side of the equation. Specifically, players feel as though the Special Infected are too poorly equipped to take out the Survivors....

Majestic’sLimbo of the Lostis a PC game with some balls. Not so much because it pushes boundaries or introduces risky new gameplay elements that we’ve never seen before, but because it has the brazen brass ones to rip off entire sections of 2006’s most popular RPG without any shame whatsoever. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it’s also a good way to get yourself sued if you try to profit from said imitation. Microsoft is claiming that accessory manufacturer Datel has done just that. The complaint filed in U.S. District Court of Western Washington says that the British manufacturer of gaming peripherals infringed on patents held by Microsoft, according to a report from the Seattle Times. The controllers specifically named in the suit are the TurboFire and Wildfire models from Datel....

Microsoft’s Game Room looks pretty damn neat, although there aresome thingswhich have lessened its appeal recently. Here’s another possible one: Game Room is rated “E 10+.” What this means, according to a Microsoft representative, is that games which would garner a rating of “T” or “M” will not be made available on the service. NoMortal Kombator any other sort of graphically violent game would stand a chance. It’s not a huge deal, considering how many classic arcade games wouldn’t be considered inappropriate for anyone prior to the 1990’s, but there will be some gaps in the catalog as a result....
