Clever dude creates a game as a marriage proposal

Gone are the days you’re able to get down on one knee with the ring at a fancy dinner. Now you’ve got to get the proposal up in lights at a pro football game, or have Oprah do it for you on national television, or something incredibly outlandish like that. If you do it the normal way, the girl is going to scoff and you’ll be alone forever. Something to keep in mind, guys....

Cool film on Flash games needs/deserves your donation

A film calledEverything, By Everyoneseems to be about anything and everything we know and love from the internet. The trailer starts off by talking about popular and long lived Flash portal Newgrounds and seems to lead into memes and indie games and internet successes from there. They say the film is story of Flash animation and games, and is analogous to the story of the internet itself. Watching the trailer, I feel like this is something I would definitely enjoy watching....

Dead Rising 2 Sports Theme Pack out today

Sporting goods can take down zombies, and I love that this is a truth in a videogame. But this ability doesn’t seem to make sense until you actually play aDead Risinggame. I’m partial to mowing them down musical instruments and food, but sporting goods are fun too. It’s like dodgeball with dismemberment. The new Sports Theme Pack DLC puts the focus on sports, giving Chuck increased attack power when using these items to attack zombies....

Dear God, finally: ‘Genetically-enhanced’ BioShock officially confirmed for PS3

While it was more or less a definite aboutBioShock‘s PS3 appearance, without a formal press release from 2K, all we could go on were the details we could steal like tiny breadcrumbs: it seemed to be a direct port, all the little fixes would be taken care of, Andrew Ryan’s pants are removable in a mini-game (but why not make that last one TRUE, 2K!). You can read the full press release after the jump, which unfortunately sheds almost no new light, merely mentioning the port would have “new features and content”....

Demo of MLB 2K8 now available on XBL, AWOL from PSN

Today, a demo ofMLB 2K8went up on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Just like thedemo ofMLB 08: The Showthat Sony put up on the PSN a few weeks ago, this demo allows you to play the first three innings of a game between last year’s AL and NL champions, the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies, respectively. The game is a Red Sox home game, so it takes place in the hallowed Fenway Park, the oldest stadium in baseball....

Destructoid (the show): Killzone + Tomb Raider – WoW?!

Holmes and I are slowly getting the hang of this “show” thing. Or at least I think so. We’ve perfected the art of condensing a good 2 days worth of gaming into 15 brief (and hopefully bearable) minutes, and today is no exception. Come join us over on the YouTubes, where we talk aboutleakedKillzone 3footageand the newPlayStation phone. I also drop some knowledge onPrototype 2and the newTomb Raidergame, while Holmes gets all fanboy over the newMega Man projectand the possibility of new characters forStreet Fighter IV3DS....

Destructoid review: Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

Oh god,Final Fantasy Tactics. What I knew in my youth as the Bane of Academia, the Unholy Timeslayer. It’s on a shiny new platform and has a nifty subtitle now, some additions and new job classes, but it’s the same game and even now threatens to consume us all! Don’t you feel the pull? The temptation? Only 1200 more JP ’til I get Calculator, then I can level up my White Mage and use brlaglhgpgighno!...

Destructoid review: World in Conflict

The Real Time Strategy genre is second only to the First Person Shooter genre in terms of how often titles are released, regurgitated and rehashed with little to no innovation. Any RTS you pick up at your local games dealer will almost certainly resembleStarcraft/Command and Conquer/Total Annihilationto a stunning degree and while this provides strategy gamers with a comforting sense of reliability it also makes for a really dull gaming experience the 400th time you’ve built a base, created some units and sent them en masse on a rampage across the local countryside....

Destructoid Theme Song Contest: the end is nigh!

Those of you fortunate enough to be on the coast farthest from me (that would be, the East coast) could quite possibly be sitting pretty, already clamoring away atMississippi Queenand lucidly basking in the high-def glow of your personal copy ofRock Band. But that’s not what this contest is about, is it? Of course you could go ‘sell-out’ by buyingRock Bandon your own, parting ways with theBenjamin Franklintwins and feeling comfortable that you’ve abandoned your competitive soul at the nearest Best Buy....

Doom RPG headed to the DS?

Fifteen years ago, if someone were to have told me that id Software was working on a turn-based role-playing mobile phone game, set in theDoomuniverse, I would laughed. What ridiculous notions — playing videogames on a phone, and a turn-basedDoom RPG! Hah! As it turns out, the future is a strange place, and not only was there a turn-basedDoom RPGfor mobile phones, but it was — gasp — actually pretty good....

E3 09: James Cameron’s Avatar game will try not to suck

As I’m typing this, James Cameron is still talking about his film,Avatar. On the one hand, this is exhilirating — it’s the first real information we’ve heard about his supposedly epic flick in the four years he’s been developing (he described the process of watching the film as being akin to dreaming with your eyes open). On the other hand, half the stuff he’s been talking about has nothing to do with the game....

E3 10: Preview: Epic Mickey

As a fan of many of the older Mickey Mouse and other Disney platformers, I was excited to hear that a new titlewas on the way. This new one,Epic Mickey, looks much darker than the old ones, and it looks like there are a few odd twists to the expected gameplay. I wasn’t banking on the nextCastle of Illusion, but this new title employs ideas that seem quite a bit less “Disney” than usual....

E3 2007: Little Big Planet trailer; cuteness intermission

With all the shooters and kill-everything-in-sight-ers on display this week, here’s a little something to lighten the mood. This trailer forMedia Molecule‘s upcoming PS3 funfestLittle Big Planetis full of fuzzy little guys building stuff. Too much violence is not good for the liver, I’m told, so check this out for a few minutes and think about your life and what you’ve been doing to your poor innards. Then, realize that most of that last sentence was utter nonsense and stay tuned for more explosions and face smashing....
