Not long ago, retailer listings indicated thatDragon Age: Originswas pushed back by two weeks. The official response didn’t contain the reason. This morning it was revealed that the game experienced this slight delay so BioWare can “finalize” things. Indeed, this is polish business.Originslead writer David Gaider told me at Gen Con ’09 that the game needed some extra scrubbing. But that was only my follow-up question. Man vs. Wild, the television show which features survival expert Bear Grylls demonstrating survival tactics in extreme situation is a pretty entertaining watch. I took some time to check out the upcoming game based on the show while at E3. In the game, you control Bear Grylls in a 3D environment. In the demo I played, I was in a forest but other locations in the finished game will include the Sahara and the Everglades....

Here’s a trailer forAssassin’s Creed: Revelations. It’s got some music in it, and lots of epic shots of an assassin doing creedy things. You love it! As well as this trailer, Ubisoft showed off some gameplay during its E3 press conference. You can aim your smoke bombs now! Outside of that, it very much looks like pureAssassin’s Creed. Running, jumping, stabbing … oh, and using a flamethrower to burn ships....

Mark Rein has emphatically stated that Nintendo’s hardware is not ready for Epic’s jelly, and he’s apparently sick of being asked about it. The studio VP stated that he doesn’t feel the 3DS could handle Unreal Engine, and as such, we won’t be seeing any of their games on the system. “Why do people keep asking about the platforms we don’t love?” he pondered. “Nothing’s changed. There’s only so much time in the day; our engine requires a certain level of hardware capabilities to make our pipeline, our tools work — and we work on the ones that do....

Treyarch has a lot to prove this fall withCall of Duty: Black Ops, a game which Activision says will be one of its biggest and best titles in the series yet. From everything I’ve seen so, it’s so far, so good — the additional development time given to the studio looks like it’s being put to good use. Now, we have our first look at the game’s multiplayer in action, and it’s looking damn good....

Behold, teaser footage of the world’s first XNA-developed title, Torpex’sSchizoid.Due to be officially debuted at Microsoft’s GameFest 2007, Torpex seems very high on what visually makes me think ofSmash TVcrossed withGeometry Wars. Touting it as possibly “the ultimate co-op game,” and going so far as to call it a “phenomenon” before anybody’s even had a hands-on with the thing, Torpex wildly claims that, “if you and a friend spend two minutes playingSchizoid, you are going to ignore food, drink, your job and your family and play until they load you up on a gurney and head to the hospital....

Turns out, the 2G1C mode inMs. Splosion Manis way cooler thanwhat I had pictured. It stands for 2 Girls 1 Controller, meaning even those without anyone to tackle multiplayer with can still partake. You control both characters on a single controller using the analog sticks for movement, and the two bumpers for ‘sploding. This mode also benefits anyone looking for a ridiculously tough challenge as well. “Best of luck, and be very, very, very careful if you ever search for videos of people accomplishing this greatest of challenges,” says lead designer Sean Riley....

Grasshopper Manufacture has released their new iOS game,Frog Minutes, to the App Store. In the game, you’re given a beautiful landscape with peaceful nature sounds all around you. Tapping in bushes, tall grass and trees releases critters like grasshoppers, dragonflies and snails. These must be tapped to catch them and then they can be fed to frogs, who must be satisfied before they too can be caught. Catching new frogs give you information about them, while catching the same frogs works towards achievements and larger size records....
