Konamihas announcedthatSilent Hill 5has been renamedSilent Hill: Homecomingand now has a European release timeframe of September. The game, which is being developed by The Collective instead of Konami’s traditional Japanese team, is being met with tentative excitement from fans, myself among them. While it looks solid and the team seems to be made up of bigSilent Hillfans, the homages to theSilent Hillmovie and the rehashed “looking for missing person” storyline is worrying....

While the Internet is still buzzing withSonic the Hedgehog 4gossip, now would be a good time to mention that the “Summer 2010” release window for Sega’s big blue reboot has been narrowed down to July. This is thanks to some sleuthing from those scarily obsessive Sonic fans of the Internet. The current teaser imagery forSonic 4reveals the game will come to Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, with one platform blacked out....

Valve and Nunchuck Games Inc. have announced that a special version ofNinja Reflex— a title that hit the Wii and Nintendo DS earlier this year — is now available on Steam. CalledNinja Reflex: Steamworks Edition, the game is designed to challenge gamers’ reflexes, sharpen hand-eye coordination, and measure reactions times to the millisecond. This special PC edition ofNinja Reflexoffers exclusive features, including full support for Steam’s achievement system. At 50 achievements,Ninja Reflexhas more achievements than any other game on the Steam service....

So much goes on at E3 that it is sometimes good to announce a few things before the show starts, as not to overwhelm attendees. According to theSquare Enix downloadable games Twitter account, there’s going to be some announcements before E3 hits. “Looks like there will be some announcements about DLG before E3. Can’t wait.” One of them is probably the duo of strange bear-throwing WiiWare games, namedKumanage(pictured above). We told you earlier that the ESRB logo was found on the Japanese teaser site for the games, so that’s even more evidence....

Bethesda Softworks has announced the latest in its series ofStar Trektitles,Star Trek: Conquest, a strategy/action title headed to the Wii and PlayStation 2 this Holiday. The title (set in “The Next Generation” era) will give players control of Federation, Klingon, Cardassian, Dominion, and Breen forces, leading them in a campaign to control the galaxy. In the strategy portions of the game, Wii players will be able to select and maneuver ships using the Wii remote; in battle,Conquestwill switch to a real-time combat mode, where players move a starship with the Nunchuck, while aiming and firing with the Wii remote....

Dino D-Dayhas redeemed this sleepiest of sleepy news weeks by gettingitself up on Steamfor pre-purchase. There’s no turning back now; the Desmatosuchus will have his day to shine. To recap, this is a Source-powered, team-based multiplayer PC game in which the Nazis have resurrected dinosaurs. It’scurrently in beta, and the final version will unlock on Steam on April 8. Many of us have unrealistically high expectations here, but when it comes to dinosaurs with mounted guns, there’s no alternative....

I’ve been covering a game known asDynasty Warriors Multi Raidfor the past few weeks, eager to see more about the latest PSP offering from Koei. At today’s Koei press conference, I got to see alotmore of what is now calledDynasty Warriors Strikeforce, and have some fresh info and hands-on experience. What more is there to know outside of the fact that the characters can go all Super Saiyan? Quite a bit, actually, because this game did not turn out quite how I expected....

When the Vita was first announced earlier this year I was able to play around with a tease experience for the next Ridge Racer title. I was hoping to see more of the game at Tokyo Game Show this year, and I was able to, but they’re still not finished with it. They had better hurry, as you know a PlayStation product cannot launch without some kind of Ridge Racer title....

Today was a historic day for baseball: the new Yankee Stadium, the most expensive sports venue ever built, had its Opening Day in a game against the Cleveland Indians. Catcher Jorge Posada christened the brand new ballpark with a home run in the fifth inning, but the bullpen couldn’t keep it close and the Yankees ended up losing, 10-2.
