Wow. Just … wow. After Sony recently gave it to Europe from behind by delaying their PS3 launch, shutting down Lik-Sang (from where a lot of Europeans were buying their PSPs), and just being Europe-haters in general, you’d think Nintendo would be the first to jump in to the Europeans’ rescue, complete with underpants on the outside, and a cape flapping with the wind, standing atop a skyscraper, taking the continent into their protection and providing it with a sense of security....

Now how’s this for a live-action ad? Hotel workers, basketball players and everyday folks can all be something they’re not. That’s the beauty of videogames and this ad for Call of Duty: Black Ops drives home that point. Seriously, this is one of my favorite videogame ads of the year now. I mean, the live-actionHalo: Reachstuff was great, but I always got so mad after watching them because they’re not real movies....

The layoffs atSplit/Seconddeveloper Black Rock Studioswere unfortunate, but from the sad news comes a bright spot in the form of RoundCube Entertainment. It’s the new company formed by studio head Nick Baynes and development director Ian Monaghan. Previously, Baynes served as the game director ofSplit/Secondand Monaghan was the senior producer at Black Rock.

Yesterday we told you that Square Enix has two newChaos Ringstitles on the way, which was great news as the original was a fine example of what a good, fully produced iOS RPG could be. The first one,Chaos Rings Omega, is a prequel that is set to release this May. Today we have the first Japanese trailer for the upcoming game, and it looksreallygood. This trailer starts off as any Square Enix trailer would, with pretty music and scenes....

Here at the offices we have an elaborate ticker tape system set up that feeds tips through a robotic assistant who then hands them off to us, assuming they’re important enough. A few moments ago, the robotic assistant actually shot herself, and along with our bizarre anthropomorphizing of a fictional piece of metal, we thought robotic suicide was slightly abnormal. Walking over to investigate, we found a press release jammed in Lola’s intake slot (yes, her name is Lola)....

I’ve been reliving my youth by indulging in old nineties comedy, most specifically the work ofStewart LeeandRichard Herring.
