We’ve used the 300 joke, but Midway reveals first This Is Vegas screens, trailer

Last week, Midway announced their upcoming open-world next-gen title,This Is Vegas.Jim Sterling made a 300 joke, and brought peace to all men on Earth. Today, Midway drops the first trailer and images from the game, and it’s all getting me into a particularly sinful mood. insert cat growling noise here The game is being developed by Surreal Software, the same folks behind the bloody and twistedThe Sufferingtitles, but we don’t expect any demons to appear in this game (although if anyone remembers the twist in Activision’sTrue Crime: Streets of LA, nothing will surprise you)....

What’s new with NHL 2K11

There are three things in life that are certain — death, taxes and annual sports game releases.NHL 2K11is outexclusively for the Wiithis September, and with it come some of the best controls I’ve ever used for a Wii hockey game. This year’s entry offers true 1:1 support through Wii MotionPlus. By pressing down on the D-pad, your character will match the movement and speed of your actions with the Wiimote when it comes to moving on the ice or taking a shot at the goal....

Why so few demos on PSN? Sony gives us an answer, and more!

Without exception, the one thing about the PS3 that has always stuck me as odd is the slim amount of game demos that can be found on PSN at any given time. While it’s certainly more that what Nintendo has decided to give us, it is just about obliterated by what can be found on Xbox Live. I’ve found myself pondering over the reasons for this more than once over the past few months, but I never was able to come up with anything to justify it — even if Sony’s PSN is still in its infancy, and free....

Wii have a problem. Dot com.

Need to hear the latest story concerning Nintendo’s new game controller/property destroyer/would-be murderer?Wiihaveaproblem.comhas you covered. They’re keeping a running tally on reported instances of Wiimotes Gone Wild, with a constantly updated “Damage Toll” on the right sidebar. So far, the Wiimote is responsible for 2 dead televisions, 1 ceiling fan, 2 walls, and 1 window. And, as evidenced by the above picture, one or two cuticles. Whether you own a Wii and need to understand the truly violent potential of your newly-bought system, or if you’re weighing the pros and cons of getting one once they become available, it’d probably do you good to check out some of the victims’ stories....

Wiimote strap stronger than you’d think; wiinjury victims are wiitarded + Rob has a point!

It’s been widely established thatRob Summahates Nintendo. That point isn’t really up for argument anymore. During our last episode ofPodtoid, though, he made a point that I find myself grudgingly agreeing with today regarding Nintendo fanboyism. After all the reports of people harming themselves and others with the Wiimote, and then people blaming a shoddy strap, one of the writers at Nintendojo took it upon himself totest the tensile strengthof the strap, and his test seems to have shown that the strap itelf is pretty sound....

The posters are officially signed by … a guy … and feature the cover art for the standard edition of the game. They look pretty swanky and anyDemon’s Soulsfan would be proud to have one emblazoned on their bathroom wall....

Wipe your arse on No More Heroes with the official toilet paper … ?

Yes, you read that right, and yes that is a picture ofNo More Heroesarse paper you’re looking at. One of the more … unique … tie-ins around, this wasa one-time freebiefor a promotional event, so it’s going to take some hunting and bartering if you want to track down a roll for yourself. “Disaster is right!” headline be gone; Disaster: Day of Crisis shows potential

When the Wii was first announced last year, there were two “mature” looking games on its tentative release slate. The first,Project: H.A.M.M.E.R.sadly looks to now be all but cancelled and the second,Disaster: Day of Crisis, kind of fell off the radar, even though Nintendo and developerMonolithpromised it would be coming out … someday. After a lukewarm reaction to the media released so far for the mysteriousDisaster, some new screens quietly snuck out of Nintendo’s recent press conference and, I have to admit, they actually piqued my interest....

160GB PS3 announced, then hidden

GameStop appears to have jumped the gun and prematurely revealed a brand new PlayStation 3 SKU. The North American retailer boasted a page on its website that featured a “just announced” 160GB PS3 that was shipping immediately. The page was promptly pulled. Sony has a gamescom press conference coming up, and it would appear that one of its major announcements has just been spilled. Looks like somebody at GamesStop got a little too eager with their clicking finger and set this live before its time, but don’t be surprised if this announcement is cemented a little later today....
