This year, Sony hopes to offer a much better experience withMLB 08: The Show, and they gave us a taste of the action with a three-inning PlayStation Network demo that went up last week....

Deus Ex: Human Revolutionis scheduled for an August 23 release date in the United States, developer Eidos Montréal hasconfirmed. European cats have to wait three days, as the game lands on shelves in those territories on August 26. Destructoid HQ gets plenty of weird, cool and sometimes stupid pieces of swag to promote whatever game that needs promoting. The latest package to be thrown at our door (Goddamn FedEx guy … ) came from 2K Games and this is certainly one of the cooler pieces of promo items we’ve received since opening up shop in San Francisco. Think your little Xbox 360 avatar men/women thingies don’t have enough character? Microsoft hopes to remedy that soon. Following their media briefing today, Microsoft confirmed that they’re now allowing the ability for games to unlock and/or provide items for your Xbox 360 avatars. They’re being called “in-game rewardables.” This won’t simply be shirts or new pants, either. Things like full costumes (like the aboveHalo: ODSTcostume, for instance) as well as “props” (like cheerleader pom poms or a Warthog radio-controlled car)....

I don’t know if you heard, butPixelJunk Monsters Deluxeis the handheld take on the beloved PlayStation Network classic, complete with the content from the “Monsters Encore” expansion, as well as an island full of 10+ stages, new enemies, music, and two unique towers. EA Games President, Frank Gibeau recently spoke toCNETand revealed two essential “jobs” that he believes his label needs to do. The first is keeping quality “talent” like artists and developers at the helm of projects. Fire Emblemis returning to Nintendo handhelds with an original 3DS title in 2012. The last release overseas wasFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, a remake of the very firstFire Emblemtitle. Details are scarce as even the title is subject to change at this point. The battle scenes have clearly been revamped however, and seem to really make use of the system’s capabilities. They also show off one of the most interesting changes to the combat system....

The Xbox 360 fall update is on its way, and it’s doubtless that millions of Internet Matlocks are already complaining about the hidden evils that Microsoft will smuggle onto connected consoles everywhere. One evil that will not be hidden, however, is a so-called “family timer” that will allow adults the nefarious power to impose time limits on gameplay. This is actually a very interesting idea, although it might lead to more instances of sprogspunching their mothers....
