Duke Nukem action figure coming and it looks not-right

Damn, what isupwith NECA recently? I’ve always liked itsAliensfigures and some of its videogame toys are badass, but the company’slatest workhas been …creepy… at best. The latest figure to get the “slightly horrific” treatment is none other thanDuke Nukem himself. He’s got balls of steel and a face of melted wax. It’s not that it’s particularly terrible, it’s just “off” in enough places to make the whole thing appear unsettling. He looks like a cross between Dolph Lundgren and Billy Bob Thornton, and that’s never a good combination....

E3 08: Imperial Japan is ready for action and to build the co-prosperity sphere!

[As originally postedon Japanator] Straight out of E3 is the trailer for the Japanese forces — no, sorry, the “Empire of the Rising Sun.” In this little video, we get to see some of the Japanese forces, with cool Japanese names, and the deterministic voice of a general who sounds like he’s been punched in the gut. There was something that bothered me, though, while watching the video. I know that in theRed Alertmythology, that World War II proper never happened....

E3 08: Video Interview with Dark Void’s Jose Perez III

Dark Voidproves that new gameplay in the action genre is still possible in the post-Gears of War,post-Halo 3world. Jose Perez III wants to show us the next step in the progression of 3rd person action shooters, and from what I’ve seen so far of his gameDark Void,he may have what it takes to do it. Out of all the 3D action games I played at E3,Dark Voidwas far and away my favorite, beating out bothResident Evil 5andBionic Commando(sorrySimon)....

E3 08: Wheelman hands-on

Wheelmanis one of those upcoming games which might inspire a quick spark of recognition. A vague memory of a gameplay-devoid teaser trailer, or images of Vin Diesel’s shaven head may come to mind upon hearing its name. Developed by Tigon Games (Vin’s personal game studio) and released by Midway, I have to admit that I’d almost totally forgotten about it until I was given the chance to actually play it this morning....

E3 10: Downloadable fatalities a possibility for Mortal Kombat

There’s no doubt that NetherRealm Studios’ just-announcedMortal Kombatis a throwback to the classic, 2D-fighting feel of the series. But make no mistake — from the game’s slick visuals that bring the gory world ofMortal Kombatto life, to its support for stereoscopic 3D on the PlayStation 3, the developer plans to make the game feel as modern as ever. Also on the table? Extensive plans for downloadable content. The demo NetherRealm is showing on the floor hints to as much — the game’s character select screen features a single box that says “DLC” on it....

E3: SEGA’s shady no comment on Sonic Generations Wii U

SEGA had just got done showing offSonic Generations(more on that soon) and asked for questions, as publishers often do at E3 presentations. Cursing myself for the obvious question I was about to ask, I wanted to know if Sonic Team had discussed putting the game on Wii U, since the Wii’s lack of HD was SEGA’s stated reason for ignoring it. The representatives stared at me like I’d just pulled down my pants and revealed a fetus hanging from the end of my balls by a length of barbed wire....

E3: Spider-man: Edge of Time trailer gets web everywhere

This E3 trailer forSpider-Man: Edge of Timeis certainly not short on action, or Spider-Mans. I can’t say it actually shows me that much, but it looks pretty decent. There is some dark action at the end, and a lot of web action going on all over the place. Is this what you wanted from the next Spider-Man game?

E3: The Force is strong with this Star Trek trailer

This trailer is pretty good. Spocktacular, even. But it’s also a trailer for a game tie-in for theStar Trekreboot movies. And the last time we saw a big-budget licensed title like this, it was Ubisoft’sAvatargame. Digital Extremes (The Darkness II,Unreal Tournament,HomefrontPC) is working on it, which should instill at least some confidence in the game. If that’s not enough, the story is penned by Marianne Krawczyk (God of War) in collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman....
