How to play defense in Backbreaker

Backbreakeris a football game, but it doesn’t play like most football games you might be used to. That’s why NaturalMotion is producing all these tutorial videos — to give players a heads-up so that they don’t complain when they’re doing it wrong in the game. You may have seen the tutorials for therunning gameand thepassing game, but the most radically different gameplay inBackbreakercomes on defense. Instead of the camera remaining behind the offense, so that you’re running “downward” when you’re on defense,Backbreakerwants to put you in the shoes of the players on the field — so on defense, you’ll be looking toward the offense....

Different — that’s for sure. “In the modern version, we’ve taken the spirit of the original game and re-imagined the Yars’ homeplanet as rendered by current gen technology,” says Atari producer Michael Fahrny....

Japan snags kawaii NiGHTS pre-order bonus: America envious, vengeful

Normally I wouldn’t throw a commonly misappropriated term like ‘kawaii’ into the title, but after looking at the above piece of pre-order swag for the upcomingNiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, can you think of another term that quite captures its appeal? Short of giving everyonetiny puppies wearing glassesor hiring five year old girls with speech impediments to hand out hand-drawn pictures of their families, Sega couldn’t possibly be doing a better job of making all the Japanese fans swell up with hearts in their eyes and squeals in their throats....

Left 4 Dead patched for PC

So, I was just about to hop ontoL4Dfor a friendly match with a few Dtoiders when Steam went down for maintenance. Again. Pissed that my attempts at playing were once again thwarted (last night saw an epic 45-minute-long series of matchmaking disasters involving third-party servers), I suddenly saw an email in my inbox letting me know that it was down because they were rolling out theL4Dpatch. It’s a pretty big list of fixes, but most notable are that they’re fixing various matchmaking issues, fixing all the exploits, and they seem to be taking care of most of the major glitches that people have been running into....
