As PAX opened its doors, both myself and my camera man Daneil Carneiro made a bee-line for Valve,to settle down to see the new trailer for co-op mode inPortal 2. We were utterly excited to see it, but after my fan-girl episode withDoug Lombardiat gamescom, I think I scared him. We were shipped off to interview the lovely Eric Wolpaw, writer forPortal 2,who gives us insight into the building of the relationships inPortal 2,and the many new features we can expect to see in the sequel....

In news that ought to please all fans of used games, Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will not be inflicting its Online Pass — where secondhand consumers need to pay $10 to access the multiplayer — uponCrysis 2. It is said that Crytek did not want to have its game used as a “testbed” for the scheme, and that it didn’t want a “wall” put up between consumers and the game’s online mode....

According to a new Japanese press release from Capcom,Dead Rising 2will be shambling onto home consoles before 2010 is finished. The sequel to the successful zombie-splattering sandbox had been without a release window thus far. We were all pretty sure it’d drop this year though. Capcom will also be working on a live action movie to tie-in withDead Rising 2‘s release.Zombrex: Dead Rising Sunis what it shall be called, and that’s more or less all we know about the bloody thing....

Earlier this week we unleashed the beast, and it trampled on the hopes and dreams of our readers and editors alike. We fought long and hard into the night to get it back into shackles, and in the end, with 3 of our editor’s dead, we finally succeeded. My love for hacking and slashing is no secret to the good gentry who read Destructoid. That is why, without an appointment, I marched over to Capcom’s booth to playSengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. Yes, I ignoredDead Rising 2,Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and everything else Capcom had. Well, it helped that there were lines for all that stuff, while everybody was ignoringSengoku. Nevertheless,Sengoku Basarawas my game of choice, so I grabbed a Wii Classic Controller Pro and hopped into the world of ridiculously dressed Japanese warriors and huge metal robot samurai....

It wouldn’t be E3 without a few surprises, and one of those happens to be two videos, which went up on YouTube earlier today, showing off gameplay footage from Capcom’s upcomingMarvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds. And boy, do they both look amazing. The first video takes place on the Mega Man Legends stage, featuring Deadpool, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk facing off against Ryu,Devil May Cry‘s Dante and Chris Redfield....

Nintendo announced its next console, theWii U, earlier today at itsE3 press conference. During the show, the company aired athree-minute montageof upcomingthird-party PS3/360/PC titles— core games/franchises such asDarksiders II,Ninja Gaiden 3, andDiRT— in a move that was clearly meant to prove that it’s serious about third-party support for the Wii U (which was sorely lacking from the Wii). But the video probably should’ve included a prominent asterisk somewhere, with a major caveat: the footage being shownwasn’t actually taken from Wii U games....

I still can’t believethis is coming out. What the hell, EA? Who the fck are these people? It’s one thing to have celebritiesguest star inFaceBreaker, but this? I suppose a dim, soggy cabin would be the best place to see Replay Studios’ Xbox 360 and PC titleVelvet Assassinfor the first time. The room is practically pitch black, and the game’s creative director, Sascha Jungnickel is leaning back nonchalantly in a metal chair as he prepares to demo an early version of the upcoming stealth action title. “Even if this and the [game’s] missions are fictional,” Jungnickel tells us in his thick, Germanic accent, “they are really close to the person who inspired them....

Straight from the horse’s mouth today comes some exciting news for Wii-owning sports fans, as well as sports gamers in general.Next Generationbrings us tidings from Peter Moore’s official blog,itsinthegame.ea.com, of future announcements for EA’s sports games. We’vealready heard ofFaceBreaker, an arcade boxing title that’s in development for the PS3, 360, and Wii, but Moore is titillating us all with statements like this: I can tell you we now have EIGHT titles in development for the Wii, testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA SPORTS games, no matter their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller....

Not content to upset book owls by “ruining” Dante Aligheri’s famous epic poem, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games are going to release their own version of the original book, with their game’s main character taking center stage on the cover. The arrogance of this is something to be applauded. Dante’s Inferno: The Videogame: The Bookis to be published by Random House and will include a few extra features for game fans — an introduction from game producer Jonathan Knight and a 16-page, art insert showing off how the book’s characters and environments were adapted for the game....

Just in time for Thanksgiving,Fable IIIwill be getting the “Understone Quest Pack” on November 23. The pack will run you 400 MS Points and adds three new quests to the game — “The Voice,” “Shooting Range,” and “The Wheel of Misfortune.” All quests are detailed below, courtesy of Microsoft and Lionhead. The “Exclusive Hair Pack” and the “5 Star Dog Potion” will also be made available for download, for 160 MS Points and 80 MS Points, respectively....
