If you grew up when I did then there’s a part of your brain that is simply full of images from Sierra adventure games. It just sits there and every once in a while something reminds you of one of their amazing games and like magic you’re taken back into that world. One of the biggest reasons for the odd longevity of their game worlds is that Sierra’s adventure games had some of the greatest artwork to ever grace a computer screen....

I remember this one time (last week) that I went into an H&M in my local mall. A piercingly intolerable drum and bass remix of Gwen Stefani’s “The Sweet Escape” blared out of the store’s hidden speakers. Pictures of Madonna stared at me from all directions as she pimped her “M for Madonna” clothing line. An androgynous clerk wearing what I can only imagine was an Xbox Live headset pushed passed me to reach a stack of argyle sweaters....

Back in November of 2008, for my very first event coverage as a representative of Destructoid, I had the opportunity to be at the launch of the then-called Xbox LIVE Community Games. Turbine is developing a microtransaction-based game. The information, in part, swings our way thanks toa job listingfor a microtransaction manager on the studio’s Web site. A company representative’s statement on theLord of the Rings Onlinemessage boardconfirmed that the listing was for an unannounced title. According to theGIreport on this matter, the rep revealed Turbine’s plans because of rampant community speculation. Fans on theLOTROboard believed that the microtransaction model would be applied toLOTRO, not to a new a game....
