Developer D2C calls PSP ‘a sleeping giant’

In an interview withGamasutra, D2C founder andMaddenveteran Scott Orr called Sony’s PlayStation Portable “a sleeping giant” in terms of possible sales. D2C has lined up some new titles to be launched this spring for the PSP and WiiWare, includingSPOGS Racing, thebull riding title we told you about earlier. Gamasutra asked Orr why he chose these platforms over Xbox Live or PSN. He cited the Wii’s mass-market appeal, and added that the PSP is also well suited to the family-oriented, downloadable style games....

Dragon Age: Origins invites you to Orzammar

As far as fantasy races go, I’ve never liked dwarves. It’s not that I’m prejudiced or anything, I just find them more boring than your other fantasy stereotypes. I’ve always been one for the undead myself, but that’s mainly because I grew up obsessed with the skeleton fight scene inJason and the Argonauts, and now believe that anything involving skeletons is awesome. None of that was really very relevant, so let me just inform you that BioWare has squirted us in the face with what it calls the “weekly blast” ofDragon Age: Originscontent....

DS sells 113 million units worldwide

Hot off the heels ofannouncing the DSi LL, Nintendo has rubbed its vast profits in our facesby announcingthat the DS as an overall product has shifted 113 million units worldwide since its launch five years ago. Thanks to consistent hardware revisions and the fact that the public swallow anything with a “DS” label on it, Nintendo has managed an impressive figure with the little system that once looked like a joke compared to the PSP....

Dynasty Warriors Gundam and the case of the missing XBL demo

In news that is sure to disappoint one person, that person being me, Namco Bandai announced a playable demo on Xbox Live for its collaboration with KOEI,Dynasty Warriors Gundam, only to deliver a big steaming plate of nothing. There were doubtless at least three Americans who think they’re Japanese waiting to pretend to be robots, but sadly the announcement was a case of crossed wires.GamingTalkHQmust have had its own residentDynastynut, because they contacted Namco Bandai for the skinny and got this response:...

E3: A Disneyland superfan plays Disneyland Adventures

For anyone that may havemissed it, Kinect-exclusive gameDisneyland Adventureswas announced during this week’s Microsoft E3 press conference. Basically, the game allows you, the player, to wander through a meticulously recreated version of Disneyland and “ride” any of the rides, which essentially transports you to a variety of Kinect mini-games based onAlice in Wonderland,Peter Pan, or whatever ride you choose to enter. Being a gigantic fan of Disneyland — and having been to the park more times that I can count — I wanted to see if someone that loves Disney (and isn’t a little girl) could enjoy this game....

E3: BioShock Infinite trailer

What do you need me to say? The game looks good. Really good. Like, “I want to smash a brick into my balls to make sure there’s any feeling left in them” good. Yes, I like this trailer.

E3: Here’s what the new Xbox 360 dashboard looks like

As mentioned earlier, Microsoft showed off the latest version of its Xbox 360 dashboard, which came with a handful of neat — but not entirely unexpected — announcements, like Bing and YouTube support. It’s another big step, visually. Content is grouped together as you would expect, with separate hubs for live television, social functionality, and games all present. Clearly, Microsoft wants to continue pushing the console as an entertainment device....

E3: Mario Kart 3DS vid does gliding and underwater racing

It took them this many games for they decided to give Lakitu a break from fishing their sorry butts out of the drink? Yeah, there is underwater racing now. Doesn’t look much different than racing on land, though. I was hoping for submarines. But there’s gliding now! That’s cool.

EDF: Insect Armageddon’s mechs look competent enough

Let’s hope I’m not being overly optimistic here. Based on this new trailer forEarth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, the mechs look fairly useful. Huge improvement over the previous game. Did anyone use the mechs — or any of the vehicles, for that matter — more than once inEarth Defense Force 2017? There’s nothing quite like having your helicopter explode before you can even lift off. Granted, it is good policy to stay away from objects that can blow up when giant bugs are running amok....

F.E.A.R. 2 has mechs, new trailer proves it

What’s the best recipe for doubling the action of a shooter sequel? Start with a base of large, vehicular robots. Mix in and attach chain guns and rocket launchers. Sprinkle in some creepy little girls. Wrap and then bake in an oven full of blood and carnage for several hours. It’s a simple, but ingenious concoction that the guys behindF.E.A.R. 2 Project Originhave decided to make a reality. The trailer — available after the break, but only if you’re 17 or older — has the final product....
