Mario Galaxy 2 launch party has swag and an old man

Sounds like the Nintendo World Store’sSuper Mario Galaxy 2launch party is goingto rock. A man withcloud-whitehair will be there, doing the voice of Mario and confusing people, because even though he sounds like Mario, he doesn’t look like Mario at all. Instead, he looks like an older version of themouth-sounds guy. For your information, the mouth-sounds guy did the voices onMamma Don’t Allow; a very important episode of theReading Rainbow, which is a show that takes place on the hardest level inMario KartWii....

Media Create numbers say that Xbox 360 did not outsell Wii

Yesterday we said that the Xbox 360 managed to outsell the Wii last week, September 8-14, in Japan. Media Create begs to differ, although the race is close either way. When most of the gaming press reports on Japanese sales, they use the Media Create numbers.Jim’s report yesterdaycomes from Famitsu’s numbers, gathered by parent company Enterbrain. Media Create says that Wii moved 29,686 units sold, followed by Xbox 360 with 28,188....

Metroid, Dark pit, and AR action in Kid Icarus: Uprising

LikeMetroid Prime: Hunterswas for the DS,Kid Icarus: Uprisingis slowly turning into the 3DS’s very own “initially announced as a console selling killer app, but now is more of an afterthought” title. This video does a lot to make the game look fun though, showing off the game’s wide selection of creatively designed weapons and enemies. It’s always nice to see a new Nintendo game where a space jellyfish sucks on a dude’s head....

My favorite moment from Call of Duty: XP

Call of Duty: XP hadModern Warfare 3, paintball events, a freaking Burger Town, sumo wrestling, ziplining and a “jeep experience.” Out of all the activities, I did not expect the jeep experience to be the best thing out of the whole XP event. Basically, the jeep experience is like Star Tours from Disneyland, expect we were really in a jeep going off-roading and making super sharp turns while real actors were shooting off guns outside....

Namco admits there IS a way to delete Pac-Man 3DS save

Despite previously claiming that there isno way to deletetheperma-saveinPac-Man & Galaga Dimensionswithout “corrupting” the game entirely, Namco Bandai has admitted that thereisa secret way of wiping data safely. Holding down “ABXYLR” when the game boots allows you to quickly reset your save data, contrary to what the publisher originally stated. The “single save” was copied fromResident Evil: The Mercenaries 3Dand seemed intended to combat used games by rendering the cartridge worthless to a second player....

Namco Bandai Editor’s Day recap

Finally, it took nearly four months, but I finally got some awesome swag from an event. Companies haven’t really been handing out anything awesome this year (Excluding Crytek who gave out 2GB Flash drive bracelets at GDC). Namco Bandai gave out a nice bag of swag that included a giant Food Network bag (which I gave to my mom. She loves it!), a police style note book, aTekkenfaceplate for the Xbox 360,Tekkenartwork (which is actually a PS3 skin) and aNarutoshirt that I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing....

New Splatterhouse images show off splatters, a house

It’s been a long time coming, with Namco Bandai’sSplatterhousedevelopment bouncing all over the place since its announcement sometime back. But it’s almost here! The re-imagining of the classic will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 23, just in time for Hallowe–no, uh… wait a minute… just in time for Thanksgiving? Sure, I’ll take it. To commemorate the game’s impending arrival, Namco Bandai has dumped a heaping of gory screenshots in our laps....

Nintendo ups Wii output for Europe, Asian countries

Nintendo is obviously pleased to be able to brag about thedoubling of profits, but to keep that up, they’re going to have to sell more wares. From whatBloombergsays, it looks like they’re already on it. Nintendo bumped up Wii production by 80 percent during the fiscal second quarter in an effort to get some Wiis into European homes. That’s probably what helped them do so well there, with sales increased 50 percent in the three months ending September 30th....

NPD says 170 million gamers in the US

Rejoice ye gamers, you are not alone. No, there are many of us and we hold hands in peace and harmony across America… or we’re shooting each other online. Either way there’s 170,000,000 of us according to theNPD’s recently released 2009 Gamer Segmentation Reportand we like playing games. Studies can be so revealing sometimes. That number is an increase of 4.3 million since 2008 and NPD took the liberty of breaking it down a bit more....

NYCC: Renegade Accordion is amazing

Sitting a stone’s throw away [who says that anymore?] from New York Comic-Con entrance is a guy that I’d definitely hire for any party or event in New York. Meet Renegade Accordion, a fantastic accordion player that has a seemingly endless line-up of geek songs in his internal songbook. I’ve heard everything from Star Wars themes to Mario background music passing by him in the past two days. Check out part of Renegade’s rendition of “Battle of the Heroes....

Our first glimpse of Double Fine’s Costume Quest

Ah, sothisis Double Fine’sCostume Quest. As you might have guessedbased on its trademark, it does, in fact, have to do with Halloween. UGO, who has the exclusive, describes it as feeling “like a lost SNES role-playing adventure ported in high-definition 3D.” Looking over the screenshots, it appears as if kids are fighting monsters in badass-ified versions of their Halloween costumes. I like where this is going! Costume Questwill be an Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network title, with its release appropriately set for Jun 29, 2025....

Pac-Man World Championship: the people

So, with the Pac-Man World Championship now over, it’s time for me to take a look back at what’s gone on today. The event was host to all different sorts of people — gamers representing seven different regions, major people in the video game industry, and the press. The players at the event were all really interesting people, actually. If you’d care to, please follow me after the jump for the layout of everyone who was there and what the hell they do....
