Finally! Civilization gets a support group

This new approach to selling us onCivilization V(we’re already sold, guys) will make you say, “Why haven’t theyactuallygone this route, beyond mere actors?” The video shows what a Civilization Anonymous group could be like and then proceeds to run with the idea to ridiculous heights. I’m of the opinion thatCivilizationneeds a real-life support group, because seriously, it’s got to rank high up there withWorld of Warcraftin terms batsh*t insane addictiveness....

Focus group could have killed DS game Nameless Game

We’ve written a bit aboutNanashi No Game(Nameless Game) before, but this may be the last time we talk about it. It seems that North American focus groups may have killed any chance of this coming out here. Takahashi Tokita, creator ofFinal Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, had another game on the back burner for us until recently. This horror game told the story of a cursed RPG, and it was inspired by a GDC presentation on first-person games....

Earlier today we talked about howFlip’s Twisted Worldwas having a hard time getting publicity, especially during such an intense release year for the Wii. FTC demands blog disclosure, governs the Internet

Games can make you eat fruit and veggies?

I know game characters so a lot of fruit eating, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. A study from the Baylor College of Medicine showed that kids that played a couple of special games ate more fruits and vegetables than the control group. The study, which worked with the USDA and others, took 133 kids ages 10 to 12, all in the upper half of their weight distribution for their age (read: chubby) and made them play these two games....

Games for girls?! What the F?

GameStop in their infinite wisdom decided to come up with this insulting game display for Games for girls. Containing games likeCooking Mama,Bratz,The Little MermaidandMy Little Pony, this glittering pink mass should really read “Games for little girls who love pink girlie stereotypes and worship Paris Hilton.” I wouldn’t buy these pieces of crap for my 5-year-old nieces, let alone myself — OK maybeCooking Mama, but that’s it. The fact that GameStop feels it necessary to even create such a display just proves that they have no clue about the female gamer market, even the little girl gamer market....
