At the recentD5conference in Carlsbad, California (yeah, I hadn’t heard of it either), Bill Gates made some very strange, somewhat confusing statements about the future of the Xbox 360. Similar to Peter Moore’scommentsa few months back, Gates seems to be hinting that the Xbox 360 may jump on the motion-controlled bandwagon and offer an experience to compete with the Nintendo Wii. Says Gates: … imagine a game machine where you’re just going to pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it....
Another argument in favor of dedicated servers has been made today, withgamers complainingthatModern Warfare 2‘s precious IW.net has led to threats of online termination from ISPs. According to reports, players have been accused of “running servers on their home connection” and “excessive file sharing through peer to peer connections.” “I received a letter from Time-Warner Cable,” writes one angry customer who had a narrow escape. “… The letter basically says that they think I have a virus thats sending/receiving information … They say ‘We ask you to bear in mind that continued violations of the road runner acceptable use policy can result in suspension or even termination of your road runner account....
Well well,Subject Zero. Certainly designed to catch our attention, this new addition to theMass Effect 2universe has had people chatting since the weekend. She’s the type of badass bitch I used to fantasize about becoming when I was a teenager, and while a lot of reactions seem to find her look offensive or outright ugly, I think it’s pretty rad myself. Of course, it’s unlike BioWare to just throw a character in for looks, and while we don’t know too much about Subject Zero yet, I’m thinking there may be a bit more to her....

Alistingfor a new writing lead asks for these specific requirements: Histories and legends, combat dialog, weapon descriptions, etc. Your words will help define Bungie’s next game universe. Next, as in notHalo. Honestly, I can’t even imagine a non-FPS at this point. That would be nice, though. They’re also looking for networking, graphics, animation, design and programming peoples....
The ESA confirmed today that NCSoft has officially left the organization, marking the seventh departure this year (Activision,Lucasartsand idSoftware were a few of the others to leave). The reasoning behind this is more likely financial than personal — after the recent announcement that NCSoft would beshutting down the serversfor MMOTabula Rasain February, the company likely needs to cut corners. Still, it looks bad for the ESA, who are likelyrestructuring the format of E3again in hopes of counterbalancing this crisis....
